Any Mac OS 7.X Ports/Clones of Arcade Games Ever Released?

Anything about Mac emulation that does not belong in the above categories.

Any Mac OS 7.X Ports/Clones of Arcade Games Ever Released?

Post by macuser85 »

Any Macintosh OS 7.X Ports/Clones of Arcade Games Ever Released for the Mac IIci (Mac OS 7.x) ? I know Joust was released, but did any other titles, clones, or look-a-likes of any other arcade games ever get made? Also, what arcade style games were published originally? Running Basilisk II emulator and was curious what was published.

What exactly do you mean by Mac128k? Something that will actually run on that hardware, or something that was produced while it was in production?

Ah; that could still be confusing, as the Joust clone was indeed written for the 128k Mac back at System 2. Probably better to say "68k Mac Ports/Clones."

That being said, you'll probably want to add Maelstrom, Barrack, and a few other AmbrosiaSW arcade-like games to that list.

[edit] found an interesting WP page here: https://system608.wordpress.com/category/games/ -- seems to have sorted software by production year (which is the same thing I ended up doing with my collection).

[edit 2] There's also https://sites.google.com/site/minivmaca ... nsv6/games

[edit 3] Also, if you're only emulating 7.5.5 and earlier, you might be better off using the latest Mini vMac beta build, as the Mac II build now fully supports audio, which means you get full emulation (not BII's emulation/simulation hybrid) with full color and full sound -- likely better software compatibility here, plus, Mini vMac is still a supported emulator.
