Screen Rotation to Portrait in OS9

Post by jeffsrule »

I'm trying to replicate the old Radius Pivot monitors in Emulation. Does any one know where to track down Pivot Pro software for Mac?

It might be on http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/radius- ... ion-cd-rom

If not, I'll hunt around; I know I had that in an archive somewhere at some point. You may need to ping this thread a few times to remind me :)

Found it: http://home.earthlink.net/~gamba2/vid-m ... x.html#3rd
[edit] ...or not. http://www.vintagemacworld.com/radius/clpvts.html has a dead link too.
[edit2] Bingo! http://radius.vintagebox.de/Download/ra ... tware/mac/
[edit3] Other Radius links, as this stuff's hard to find now: https://web.archive.org/web/19990701000 ... intage.com (software links are to FTP archives, which archive.org doesn't grab).
I'd link the archive of radius.com, but it just links to the FTP site for the most part, and provides less info than radiusvintage.com.

Yes, lots of deadlinks out there.

ADESPOTON: Thanks so much for looking, I'll try the Radius software for 7.5.5. It may work in my Basilisk II install, but probably not for Sheepshaver PPC. It looks like this might be the install disc for the old Radius clone computers, not specifically for screen rotation, but worth a shot.

The SoftPivot software you found on Macintosh Garden looked promising, but won't work in Stuffit in Basilisk II running 7.5.5. Says its a bad archive. I'll try shortly on the Sheepshaver.

really appreciate the help!

If it says "bad archive" with Stuffit 3, it might be a newer Stuffit 5+ archive. Expander should be able to handle it. It also might be missing the resource fork -- in that case The Unarchiver or Stuffit should be able to expand it on OS X.

Running into an issue here. I've installed Stuffit 5.5.
Found it here.
http://www.pure-mac.com/downloads/stuff ... sicdl.html
Still getting "bad archive". I was able to expand it in Mac OSX using the Unarchiver. However, when I move the files back to Sheepshaver or Basilisk II it appears the resource forks are gone. I'd forgotten the fun or resource forks.

I dug up a copy of RESEdit
http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Su ... .3.sea.bin
but don't know what the codes would be.

I also read through the Read Me file for Soft Pivot. It appears to be a Control Panel and driver meant to work with the Radius Pivot hardware. I'm not sure it will work without the monitor, though I'm still willing to give it a shot.

There was a a company called Portrait the made software called Pivot Pro that allow you to rotate the screen. Any chance ADESPOTON might have a line on this software?

I got the SoftPivot drivers extracted and installed. The screen shot shows the results. It did not detect the Radius Pivot monitor attached and there is no way to override, which was my hope.

This is the last piece I need working on an Apple Prototype recreation I've been working on. You can see it at http://www.applemake.com

Here is a picture. Everything is working except screen rotation.
