Re: An easy guide for the non tech-Savvy

Right now im in the middle of setting up my SheepShaver folder so that it can run but so far the app is closing when I click on it SheepShaver will quit on launch when it does not find a compatible rom file where it expects one. Did you follow these instructions in the setup manual? - Download a co...

Re: An easy guide for the non tech-Savvy

If your question is: How do I mount an ISO disk image in SheepShaver? Then the answer is: Add the .iso file to the volumes list in the GUI or preferences and save the change.* At next launch of SheepShaver the disk will then appear on the SheepShaver desktop (= will be mounted in SheepShaver). * I m...

Re: Installing COIV4.0.1+ on Sierra?

We do not give a direct link because it this board's policy is to not link to EULA or copyright protected material. Pre-configured SheepShaver setups do contain such software from Apple. Search the internet for: Mac OS 9 for macOS The very first result in Google will probably be "Mac OS 9 for OS X/m...

Re: Installing COIV4.0.1+ on Sierra?

Whatever the cause, apparently this does not work for you. Better get rid of this COIV4.0.1+ and follow emendelson's advice above. You will find another easy to set up SheepShaver configuration that, in contrast to the abandoned COIV4.0.1+, is still actively being developed and supported (by emendel...

Re: Installing COIV4.0.1+ on Sierra?

None of the .dmg disk images shown are startup disk images. The first three are empty and the other two do not exist. For some unknown reason the startup volume does not appear. The volumes written to the preferences file after Classic.app is launched at least once should be: disk /Users/ronald/Desk...

Re: Installing COIV4.0.1+ on Sierra?

Note that we do not support COI. It should run on macOS Sierra, though. Just launch the "Classic" application, nothing else is needed. The .dmg files are only needed in the /Users/Shared/ folder when you need more disk space. Strange that SheepShaver does not find the startup disk. That disk (image)...

Re: Basilisk II on Raspberry Pi : no keycodes file?

Great!

Yes, indeed, the RetroPie community should have a better look at the BasiliskII source code that is used and at the way BasiliskII is compiled and build. All BasiliskII forks that I am aware of, read the keycodes entries in the configuration (prefs) file since at least 1996.

Re: Basilisk II on Raspberry Pi : no keycodes file?

There are several BasiliskII development forks. I do not know which source code was used to compile the BasiliskII that you probably got from the RetroPie repositories, nor how old it is. I would expect most older builds, regardless the source, to work with the keycodes file you use. Translations fo...

Re: Basilisk II on Raspberry Pi : no keycodes file?

I trust that you did set your keyboard setting in BasiliskII to your azerty keyboard. There are several keycodes files around. In the newer keycodes files I added scancode to keycode translations for SDL2 builds of BasiliskII and SheepShaver for Windows and macOS, but not yet for Linux. If your Basi...

Re: Install software from multiple disks

You can try this method that works with some installers: Stop the installation. Create a new folder on the desktop. Drag the icons of the mounted disks Disk 1 through Disk 7 (not the image files) into that folder. For each disk a folder will be created with the same name as the disk. Unmount the dis...

What are you referring to, the "Classic Environment" that would work in Mac OS X on PPC Macs up to Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)? Are you running Mac OS X together with Mac OS 9 on an actual PPC Mac or in a PPC Mac emulator? QEMU? The Classic Environment wil run integrated inside Mac OS X. If you want to ...

Does SheepShaver crash when you open the TCP/IP control panel? That is unusual. In the other thread you mentioned that you deleted the prefs file, so you needed to setup SheepShaver again. Did you follow the setup guide? Specifically, did you make sure to enable "Ignore Illegal Memory Accesses"?

Re: Stability with JIT Compiler Not Enabled (Windows)

I run BasiliskII for OSX/macOS (now also from kanjitalk755 source) always with JIT compiler disabled because of stability issues. SheepShaver seems to be not affected. Recently kanjitalk755 even had the JIT compiler disabled in BasiliskII source for some time because of serious stability issues. It ...

Re: SheepShaver for Windows

Yes, the new SDL2 builds also need a new keycodes file. The new keycodes file, together with a ReadMe about changed mappings of the modifier keys should have been added to the download.

The new build was posted by Cat_7, I will contact him about it.

I am very sorry, but I had to remove the download link. It is this board's policy to not allow direct links to EULA or copyright protected material. At best you can post a search term that will lead to the site that offers the download.

Re: Higher your monitor's resolution, tinier Basillisk's screen.

Yes, that is what I just now discovered also. In my 7.5.5 installation in BasiliskII there is a "Mac HiRes Std Gamma" gamma table selected in Monitors control panel. When I set it to "uncorrected table" (translated from Dutch) gammaramp does not work. In the 7.5.5 installations I have in SheepShaver...

I think it is better this way. But it does not work with some configurations in SheepShaver: It works for me in BasiliskII with System 7.5.5 installed and with System 7.0.1 installed. It works for me in SheepShaver with MacOS9 installed and MacOS 8.6 installed (with new world rom) It works for me in...

Re: Higher your monitor's resolution, tinier Basillisk's screen.

This is really only for very critical and advanced users. Maybe it does show more accurate display in the emulator, but it is very disturbing for the average user. If this should be implemented at all, it should be off by default. And then really off when it is off. Now it isn't. In my latest build,...

Re: Higher your monitor's resolution, tinier Basillisk's screen.

I do not think it is behaving now as it should. The control-return window/fullscreen toggle now works with each of the three gammaramp settings. But without adding a gammaramp item to the prefs file (gammaramp on by default), and with BasiliskII in front, everything on my screen appears bleached out...
