OK, apologies for wasting bandwidth. I finally understand what the question is (or at least I think I understand it), but I don't have an answer.

Try it and see what happens. No one can tell you. Just try it.

Re: Sheepshaver crashing a lot
Questions about my prebuilt Mac OS 9 app belong in the "Other SheepShaver Configurations" subforum. But, while we're here, my system should work on Catalina if you start it normally by double-clicking the application. If you do anything else, it won't work. If you're starting it normally a...

The background image is the install CD-ROM background image, so your point is surely correct.Ronald P. Regensburg wrote: ↑Wed Apr 07, 2021 5:32 pm 1. Is the MacOS 9.0.4.iso a fully pre-installed system or a MacOS install CD image? If it is an install CD image, it seems you did not install the system (at least you do not mention installing MacOS).

Cmd-click SheepShaver; choose Get Info; make sure that "Open in low resolution" is NOT checked. If it IS checked, experiment with the check both on and off.

Re: RTF problems in SheepShaver
The more irritating of the two is the emulator freezing or crashing when I try to open RTF files (in Clarisworks 5.0 for example). I have yet to be able to open a single RTF file created from Word 2011 (running in High Sierra) without it crashing. More peculiarly, RTF files transferred over to the ...

Re: RTF problems in SheepShaver
You're creating the files in OS X, but want to open the files in apps running in SheepShaver? That's what you seem to be saying. I can't guess why anyone would want to do that, but if that's what you're trying to do, it won't work because apps running in the old Mac OS inside SheepShaver need to fin...

I just fired up 0.18, was using 0.15, it ran without a problem. M1 Air on Big Sur. maybe try wiping the BII settings and seeing if it works from scratch? You guessed it! I renamed the existing prefs and the GUI started up with no trouble. The problem was this line in the original file screen rootle...

Crashes instantaneously on launch. I know that an earlier version worked, but I don't remember when, or under which OS.
EDIT: I copied it into a Catalina system running under Parallels Desktop. It ran perfectly there. It crashes in Big Sur; runs well in Catalina.

Inside SheepShaver, running Mac OS 9 or whatever you're using, check the setting in the Screen or Monitor or similarly-named Control Panel.

Create a new larger disk; copy everything from the existing smaller disk into it. Remove the existing smaller disk from the system, and the system will boot from the new larger disk.

Re: Full screen scaling
Ah, yes! Interestingly, the smaller 800 x 600 still scales (though, much cleaner) while 1024 x 768 is 1:1. Regardless, much better than before. Thank you! 800x600 scales because it can be integer-scaled (exactly 2x 800 x 600 fits into your screen), while 1024x768 won't scale because it can't scale ...

If you (the original poster) are referring to the pre-built MacOS9 system downloadable from a page at www.columbia.edu, then you can find very detailed instructions on the page with the download link. (Forum rules forbid me to link to that page directly.) If you're not using that system, then ignore...

Re: Cannot boot System 7.5.3 Not enough memory was available while using
Quick question: Is there a reason to run 7.5.3 rather than 7.5.5? You can find a pre-built, self-contained, reliable (I think) system running 7.5.5 under BII, by searching Google for system761 The first page in the search results (which I can't link to here because of forum policy) includes a refere...

Re: Option request - window title
I would use this simply as a reminder that I'm running System 7.5.3 or 7.6.1. Again, I think the point is that you need to have only one build of the application, and multiple VMs, each with a different title bar. They don't need to be running at the same time. With some DOS emulators, the title bar...

Yes, but adespoton's suggestion would let you use the same build for multiple configurations, but each configuration could have a different string in the title bar.

You don't need HFS+ (HFS Extended) volumes for SheepShaver. SheepShaver works perfectly well with HFS volumes.

Re: HFV Explorer and file type mapping
That is the error message you get when you try to access an HFS+ volume (not original HFS, but HFS+) from Mac OS 8.0 or earlier versions; files on the HFS+ volume will only be visible from Mac OS 8.1 or later. Does this make sense in your situation?
