Re: Mounting CD game discs?

So I burned the bin/cue Civ II ´97 to CD and tried with SheepShaver on Windows 10. After installing from CD, things seem to be working working on my side, except for the AIFF background music, but I did not explore further. If your Classic II ITX can have an optical drive, the game should find the C...

Re: Mounting CD game discs?

Yeah, my bad. Civ II Gold or the very early one from ´97? Either way, I think the bin/cue was for preservation only. The .toast image should be enough to get going. Sound from a mixed mode CD may not work with Mac emulation at all. If you expand the .sit file of Civ II ´97 on the Mac´s HDD with Stuf...

Re: Mounting CD game discs?

Did you try the second DL from the Civilisation CTP page at Macintoshgarden too? That way you may confirm the game is working with SheepShaver from the .toast image. Edit: You wrote Civ II, so CTP is likely not the one you are after. Maybe tell the link which one you are trying to run, I´m not into ...

Re: Mounting CD game discs?

Game CDs may be troublesome, bin/cue especially. Many game CD images can be mounted via the built in SheepShaver GUI, you can check them there as read only. The recent version of the emulator has the ability to mount bin/cue. For ISO game images, https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/virtual-dvd-romcd-ut...

Re: Problem running game Snakes Alive!

I´m presuming the app was damaged while in transfer. The common fate of "naked" apps. ;)
Just made a 7z compressed NDIF image as 2nd DL, feel free to try please.
The game is running on my side in SheepShaver too. Host OS is Mojave.

Re: How to increase memory on SheepShaver

As you seem to have SheepShaver running, best create or download a volume for your System and another one for scratch. Install a clean copy of MacOS from a CD image onto the System volume. Finally you may move your game CDs to the scratch volume. Here are some empty disk images, but you may also cre...

Re: Mac Emulators

What is your final goal after all? You will know that Basilisk II is emulating a Mac IIci with recent builds. Many more machine types could be chosen in Basilisk II Build 142 for Windows. MiniVMac II is emulating a Mac II - as the name indicates. ;) Last not least there is Fusion_PC for DOS/Windows ...

Re: QEMU Freezing When Trying to Initialize Hard Drive

You might duplicate the boot disk image in Windows, mount it as second device for QemuPPC and format HFS/HFS+ to see whether that is working as it should.

Re: Mini vMac and CD Games

Ah yes, totally forgot about the speed setting. Speed 32X does play the large screen quite nice. Again, you want System 7.1 to play, as RAM is tight with MiniVMac II. Sound Manager 3 and Quicktime 2 need to be added to the 7.1 System folder by drag and drop. https://i.ibb.co/WkrdGP2/Super-Wing.png W...

Re: Mini vMac and CD Games

Can you try https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/virtual-dvd-romcd-utility to mount the game .toast/.iso? To do so, you need a fairly large MiniVMac Macintosh volume for hosting the .toast, of course. The .toast file is here, just in case: https://macintoshgarden.org/games/super-wing-commander According...

There must be a bootable MacOS 9.2 image for Qemu, I did upload some time ago. Found it: https://www.magentacloud.de/lnk/zq4MpCru Hope that helps. Qemu PPC configuration is not very Macintosh like, I´ll post my Windows batch file. What puzzles me, is that SheepShaver is just doing nothing on your si...

Re: Program in MacOS 9.0.4 in SheepShaver doesn't open

I see. That SheepShaver build is useless for you anyway on Windows. I did not try the game with SheepShaver / Windows, but I´ll have a look. Qemu PPC / OSX 9.2 seems to run the game too, but the mouse is misbehaving on my side. The game is loading the sample file with SheepShaver / Windows 10 just t...

I don´t know about the Japanese version, but Yoot Tower.toast from Macintoshgarden is running on my side with SheepShaver 2.5 for macOS Catalina. Host is i5-2540m , macOS Mojave. Guest is MacOS 8.6. The game was expanded from .toast to 2GB HFS+ disk image within SheepShaver. Actually, I only opened ...

Dont want to debase the work of the makers of the Java Script Basilisk II build. I just feel that the .js based emulator has very limited options and it is slow. Re: Drag and Drop on MacBinary II

Most likely the Mac resource fork of the bin file is lost in transition. Is it possible to open the bin file from within the MacBinary app via File Menu on the target side? It should be doable to restore the resource fork with another app like MiniConversion. MiniConversion is included here: https:/...

If you are not familiar with creating (large) disk images, you may grab one here:

Best use something small like the 3GB image to keep things simple.

Exactly. You may use the System 6.img (or the MacOS7.5.3.dsk) as you wish. __MACOSX is a left over of the default OSX/maOS Zip app, which should be deleted. The file is invisible with OSX btw. Sorry for using a proprietary zip app, better solutions are available, just not that convenient. You may al...

Re: This disk (CD-ROM) is unreadable by this Macintosh

Maybe a long shot, but I would give Basilisk II Build 142 a go with a Windows 2000 virtual machine and the USB floppy drive attached to it. If Basilisk II B142 does not mount the floppy (Ctrl-Sift-F11), I would ask for help at Macintoshgarden. There are users in Sweden, Germany, Australia etc. some ...

I´m using a virtual machine running Snow Leopard Server on a Catalina host for tasks like that. VirtualBox from Oracle is free and SL Server setup is fairly simple. Snow Leo Server is hosted at Macintoshgarden. Except for creating CDR master files from old HFS CDs Snow Leo also plays many old PPC co...

Rosetta was part of OSX up to 10.6 Snow Leopard. I did try with 10.5 as I have a running instance anyway. To install 10.5 or 10.6 on a modern Mac, you want a virtualisation engine like VirtualBox or VMWare Fusion. To install OSX, the Server version is needed. https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/mac-os-...

The MiniVMac II apps from Macintoshgarden are outdated 32bit apps for reference. There is no support for the builds, they are an example for the old build helper output, which was available on Paul C. Pratt´s pages before he switched to MiniVMac 3.6. The apps run with 8-16-24 bit colour, as the name...
