Re: Mac OS X 10.3 issues

That's not bad at all - obviously benchmarks can be a bit artificial, but there are only 2 tests where QEMU is slower than PearPC: FFT (FP): PearPC 61.4%, QEMU 6.7% VolInt (FP): PearPC 102.3%, QEMU 14.5% At some point it would be interesting to see which instructions are being used by the slower te...

Re: Compiling Executor

Seeing as how the latest Executor for OS X is from April of 2020, I thought compiling it from the github repo would be prudent. So I followed the Readme in autc04's guthub repo, and the results are puzzling. I get an error: Adams-MacBook-Pro:build a_wgaa$ cmake .. -- The C compiler identification i...

Re: Softmac Emulation bugs

Unlikely you're going to find a fix for SoftMac any time soon though. Would be nice if they would open-source their older emulators (Fusion, SoftMac). Has anybody tried contacting the developer and asking? Just think about the possibilities (SCSI support once again in Basilisk II/SheepShaver)... :m...

Re: No sound

If it's hard-linked to command-shift-5, just use keyboard prefs to move the screenshot feature elsewhere while you change the settings. I haven't used that build, so I'm not sure if there's an easier way.

Re: No sound

Running the latest release of Executor from autoc04's branch, and I can get several games to work (Lemmings, Museum Madness) but there's no sound. They work fine with sound in Qemu and Basilisk II. Is this a limitation of Executor? From the manual: Executor 2's sound emulation is incomplete. As suc...

Re: Undumped Mac ROMs

I found a very competent ROM dumper. This particular dumper actually runs within a UNIX environment, which itself runs on classic Mac OS. We tested it out on a TAM and was able to dump the ROM properly. That's great news! Would you please update https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wB2HnysPp63fe...

Another is vastly simplified floating point emulation. I believe there's also some instructions that always produce dummy results, but it's been years since I've looked at the source.

Re: Mac OS X 10.3 issues

oh alright. it's a huge same. i'm going to look for alternatives; i'm glad i could at least use SheepShaver for OS9. the guide here was really helpful. thank you. Your only alternative is using PearPC, which doesn't have sound or graphics acceleration, and has known issues due to the shortcuts it t...

Re: Undumped Mac ROMs

The good news is that I found someone with a TAM. The bad news is that the ROM would not dump properly - it would dump the 68k portion of the ROM (the first 3 MB of 4 MB), but not the PPC portion (the last MB). The results were as follows: GetROM - didn't work CopyRom - outputted 3MB (68k portion) ...

Can't you launch the monitor and use it to mount/eject disk images? I thought I recalled doing that before someone added the menu item to the macOS build of QEMU-PPC.

Re: Fullscreen for games

I do set my Basilisk to 1024x768. I reset it and it did work better thank you. Is there a way to tell what a game is set to or is it just trial and error? It's usually in the game documentation. Standard sizes are 512x384, 640x480 and 800x600. After that, graphics acceleration showed up and changed...

Should be in the bin folder in the source directory? It's been a while since I've built that code though, and I'm going from (known faulty) memory.

I've noticed some games I remember being fullscreen are windowed in Basilisk. The latest example I have played is "Super Munchers." Is there a setting somewhere to make a game fullscreen? I noticed some games come with a folder called "system folder" is that something to do with it? I know with "Wi...

Probably also worth asking what changed in your setup? Sounds like you're on macOS; are you on macOS 11 beta by any chance?

Yes, I am using mac os x 10.4.11 on a 1.33ghz g4 powerbook, it is not able to start mac os 9 (there are some hacks, but it will not work properly). My intention is to run the classic environment in full screen, to have access to mac os 9, inside mac os x, using mac os x only as a "compatibility lay...

Re: Help with Classic Environment (run it in full screen)

What are you referring to, the "Classic Environment" that would work in Mac OS X on PPC Macs up to Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)? Are you running Mac OS X together with Mac OS 9 on an actual PPC Mac or in a PPC Mac emulator? QEMU? The Classic Environment wil run integrated inside Mac OS X. If you want to...

This should probably be moved from GME to the BII thread (moderators) unless you're looking to see if you should be using a different emulator.

Which guest OS / hardware profile / ROM are you using in BII?

Yup; you need to provide your own ROM image for BII, as well as your own operating system.

I have a script I run that hides the entire application until OpenBIOS has a chance to complete, and it makes the window visible and brings it to the front after about 10 seconds. I could probably improve it to bring the window to the front, visible, when it resizes but I haven't spent the time to g...

Re: Softmac Emulation bugs

By far I have found SoftMac to be versatile supporting SCSI partitions. The only gripe I have is any security based software (FileGuard/EmpowerII) lock up the emulator with 100 percent CPU. The CPU is a symptom of a bigger problem. I am using Mac2Si and Mac2FX roms and system 7.5.3 and 7.1 do the e...
