Re: "Could not find a translation extension with appropriate translators"

Hi everyone, I've been trying to get Science Sleuths running (https://macintoshgarden.org/games/science-sleuths-vol-1-mysteries-of-the-blob-and-the-exploding-lawnmowers), but I keep encountering the following error: "The document 'Science Sleuths image' could not be opened, because the applica...

Re: Connect QEMU OS9.2.2 to Host Devices?

I still can't see the images (network block for that image host I think), but I do have a question... does the device normally require a system extension under 9.2.2? If so, is that loading properly in QEMU?

Re: Why is it hard to find a 10.5 image that boots with QEMU?

Well, that is not true. It is just a matter of finding a working iso. Best, Cat_7 I have to admit, I just went from an image I made off my own DVDs. Never had an issue. However, the "lock down" on 10.5 images is just a plist file on the disc. I can't recall which one right now, but I'm pr...

Hi the qemu screamer builds don't work on Big Sur and running allow qemu to run says emu-system-ppc doesn't exist I'm running the screamer builds on Big Sur, so they do work. "emu-system-ppc" appears to be missing the "q" at the start. The initial qemu.command script has this wr...

Re: Putting Windows Images Into BasiliskII using HSVExplorer?

Originally, Macs supported the PICT format. This is a bitmap format, stored either in the data or resource fork, with a filetype of PICT. Software like GIFView and JPEGView came along to support the GIF and JPEG formats before too long. There was also MacPaint that supported a native format and PICT...

Hi! I've been following the guide https://www.emaculation.com/doku.php/ppc-osx-on-qemu-for-osx to run Mac OSX on my Big Sur, but when I run QEMU, I get a yellow command page with this error: Trying hd:,\\:tbxi... Re: A Perfect Mac OS 7.6.1 Computer

The neat thing about including MPW is that you can then compile all of Apple's sample code, and you can run ToolServer, which lets you script and interact with Mac OS in a very UNIX-y way. There's even a third party app written that turns it into a telnet server so you can log in remotely and contr...

Re: A Perfect Mac OS 7.6.1 Computer

I'd recommend some changes. Basilisk II actually emulates a Quadra 900 for the most part. So if you set it to use the Quadra 800 ROM and the 68040 CPU, you'll be in better shape. ROM info here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wB2HnysPp63fezUzfgpk0JX_b7bXvmAg6-Dk7QDyKPY Everything else looks...

Re: A Perfect Mac OS 7.6.1 Computer

I am trying to create a Chromebook/Mac OS 7.6.1 machine (Basilisk II) for casual generic work and was wondering if these are the best choices: ROM: Macintosh LC III ROM (1MB) RAM: 128MB CPU: 68030 with FPU HDD: 800MB word processor: Word 6.0.1 (from Office 4.2.1) <Word 5.1a doesn't install, and v6 ...

Re: Speedometer: Disk Test Problem

Did you try assigning more RAM to Speedometer already? The RAM setting can be edited via "Get Info" from the File menu. 1. I never thought about this since it ran fine out-of-the-box in Mini vMac on a Mac Plus with only 4MB of RAM. 2. I didn't know about this "assign more RAM" t...

Re: Game Recommendations Needed!

During the '90s the only reason I went to my sister's Macintosh II was to play Maelstrom ! That was an amazing fluid game. I was a PC convert at that time. Your sister obviously didn't have the entire set of AmbrosiaSW games installed; you missed out on Barrack and Escape Velocity. Same fluidity, b...

Re: Connect QEMU OS9.2.2 to Host Devices?

Hi, What you would be looking for is usb pass-through into your guest. -device usb-audio only presents an usb audio device to the guest, and that is not what you want. Every usb device has a unique combination of vendor id and device id. You need to find those id values for your usb midi device. Yo...

Is there a way to connect the OS running within QEMU to external devices attached to the host machine via USB or Firewire? I'm trying to create a "link" from QEMU to an external MIDI interface which is currently connected to the hosts Firewire socket, is this possible? Yes; you'll need to...

My mouse still works in Basilisk, I just can't click on it. Is there a ctrl alt delete for 90's mac's? There's the interrupt key, from where you can type SM 0 A9F4 <return> G 0 <return>, or SM FA700 A9F4 <return> PC FA700 <return> G <return> You could also try running your games under SheepShaver o...

Re: Tips for a more stable Basilisk

Are there any tips or ideas one can do to make Basilisk less prone to Freezing up? I highly recommend you try playing Lode Runner On-Line: The Mad Monks' Revenge if you like LodeRunner II -- it's an older 2D build done by Sierra Online (hence the Online) that has a larger set of sprites than the other "original" LR games, different world types, and lots of colour. It wor...

AppleTalk won't work, but Apple Remote Access does; it tunnels AppleTalk over serial. That's the point of the other thread. Rebooting doesn't always fix it, for some strange reason.
That's because sometimes something else loads at memory address 0 after boot. It's Russian Roulette every time.

Using the SDL build you can modify the keycodes file to map to your soft keyboard... but I'm not sure what mappings you'd need. It would be easier to use a wired or bluetooth keyboard with your Droid device that has the keypad on it.
