Re: How to run my Macintosh software in vMac

Easy way to check: Open Terminal.app and type tail and then drag the file onto the window. Now backspace to the end of the file name and add /..namedfork/rsrc and press return. eg: tail /Volumes/Macintosh HD/Users/Shared/Old\ Software/AncientApp/..namedfork/rsrc where AncientApp is the name of the o...

Re: How to run my Macintosh software in vMac

I can run my old software on my old Mac SE30 but I setup mini vMac on my 27" iMac to run the programs. These are programs I wrote in Lightspeed C back in the 1980s. They are MY programs. I can't figure out how to run them in the emulator. I tried importfl but it does not seem to work with appl...

Re: Startup.wav is low-pitched when using a different sound

Somehow the audio is going through a different pipeline for you. Do you have any audio filters installed? Using a custom sound card? Routing application audio through a different system than system alerts? anything else about your hardware or software config that might be affecting this?

Re: BasiliskII for iOS

Just found this and it’s awesome. I’m not a developer… so it took a little work to get it to compile with Xcode. But, I’ve loaded up 7.5.5 with the tools I used to use in college: WriteNow, ClarisWorks, Star Trek the 25th Anniversary Game and more. On my iPad Air 3 it’s really, really fast. Two que...

They don't make it easy, do they? So they'll need to be pulled in via brew with the --bottle-arch= tag I guess.

Re: Sheepshaver/BasiliskII development and supported platforms

On Intel I guess you first need to install brew for arm? One other build environment to keep track of. arch -arm64 /bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homeb ... install.sh)" Find the actual url to use here: https://brew.sh/ and then install mpfr: arch -arm64 brew ...

Re: Sheepshaver/BasiliskII development and supported platforms

I understand that this is now merged into the master branch. While I am still on Intel, I will need to install GMP / MPFR library for arm64 manually if I want to build BasiliskII for arm64. How do I do that? I'm pretty sure Homebrew lets you pull down whatever libraries you want: https://formulae.b...

Can you update the guide with a large warning about how this setup DOES NOT WORK for iPhone which can't (and will probably never) support Tap interfaces. Re: Nibble Magazine Archive

Ironically, what I read old magazines for is the ads. It was from a 1903 National Geographic that I discovered the first successful electric car company in the US was manufacturing and successfully selling electric delivery trucks in New York in 1903. And their ads continued up until WWI, when they ...

And copy is OK. However, you need the headers as well as libgmp.a and libmpfr.a.
Well, you could just make them a requirement like SDL, and include installation instructions....

Hi, We would need some additional info to understand your issue. What are you trying to boot with which virtual machine manager? How come you think you need something set to use a scsi interface? Qemu-system-ppc runs Mac OS using ide interfaces. Have you tried using our guide? It is mostly applicab...

Re: QEMU and Firewire devices - help!

If you're running Windows 10 on the Windows machine, I'd recommend installing WSL and using the dd command. If you don't want the unfamiliar waters of WSL, if you install Git for Windows, it comes with Git Bash, which also has dd built-in.

Re: openvpn AppleTalk networking for remote linux clients

In the past we've written scripts to automate some of this, named ifup and ifdown. With a bit of bash scripting and sed to grab the IP address, it should be possible to distill all those steps into an ifup and an ifdown script. You could then run those in-line with BII in another script that would l...

Re: Sheepshaver/BasiliskII development and supported platforms

I know some of our recent users have been using it, especially on Raspberry Pi machines (not the target here). If we're looking specifically at macOS 11 and later, I really don't see the use of JIT, as any machine that can run Big Sur is more than beefy enough to run non-JIT BII at full speed. That ...

Happy to know it works on the RPi4; the other compile thread for graphics speed should be able to do that too. What OS is the RPi2+ running? Does it have SDL2 loaded and functioning with other software? I ask because the 2+ is old enough that SDL1.2 was pretty common, and SDL2, not so much. If it DO...

Thanks for the details! When you weren't using X, what were you using? SDL1.2, SDL2, or direct framebuffer? These will likely all have different results. Here's the specs for RPi3 and RPi4: RPi3: SoC: Broadcom BCM2837 CPU: 4× ARM Cortex-A53, 1.2GHz GPU: Broadcom VideoCore IV RPi4: SoC: Broadcom BCM2...
