Re: Executor 2.0 for DOS.

For more fun, the source for Executor was provided a while back: https://github.com/ctm/executor -- main target is macOS, but I believe it can be compiled for Win10 too... with no DOS needed.

You should also be able to use NFS on both 10.4 and 11. I'm not sure about the filesystem restrictions though, nor resource fork handling.

Re: Problem compiling QEMU Screamer on Linux Manjaro

Hello there. I was trying to compile QEMU screamer on Linux Manjaro but I get the following error: ERROR: GNU make (make) not found. I used the following code git clone -b screamer https://github.com/mcayland/qemu qemu-screamer cd qemu-screamer ./configure --target-list=ppc-softmmu --enable-sdl --e...

5 beeps means the system isn't detecting the GPU. Possibly someone already flashed it?

Re: So, what 3D games are compatible with the new hardware acceleration feature?

Someone who is familiar with the cebix source code, familiar with driver software development, and who has access to ATi Rage 128 specs, plus has the time and inclination to put it all together. Plus, they have to be someone who isn't already working on adding hardware acceleration to QEMU-PPC. It's...

Re: So, what 3D games are compatible with the new hardware acceleration feature?

The hardware acceleration feature is to accelerate SheepShaver the emulator; it's not a GPU passthrough to the software inside. Enabling it will make screen redrawing faster with less CPU churn, because SheepShaver will be able to use the GPU to draw the screen instead of doing it all via CPU. Bugdo...

Re: Looking to attempt GPU passthrough - Which card to get?

You may be able to use usb-audio as a short-term workaround, but using the screamer fork with the custom openbios will be much more useful for what you're doing. Just be warned that snapshotting is incompatible with the screamer fork -- which is why it's not in the mainline build yet.

Re: Looking to attempt GPU passthrough - Which card to get?

Interesting idea! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Core_Image provides a list of GPUs that support Core Image on 10.4 -- so I'd guess one of them should work in passthrough? One thing to remember is that the Mac firmware differs from the PC firmware. Also, that includes GPUs that are probably only supp...

I found that the image I created and used with the binaries provided here work nicely with UTM, are improvements @CAT_7 and others are making being feed back into UTM? And what are the key differences at this point? You're asking in the wrong place -- that's something to ask the UTM guys. However, ...

Re: MACE: an New Classic Mac emulator project

Thanks for providing this bit: Originally the audio buffer with 22255 Hz sample rate was passed directly to SDL2, which caused some problems as some systems were not able to handle that format very well. Even though it worked on Mac Pro, for example on M1 Macs it caused the audio in other applicatio...

Re: How to install Tiger on QEMU?

The screen looks right; you should eventually go from there to the regular Tiger boot sequence and then the installer dialog. If you get stuck at the yellow screen and it drops to a command prompt, that means the virtual PPC couldn't find the EFI boot file in the /System folder on the install CD. Th...

Looks pretty good to me....
Have you found a way to get the integrated camera to do anything? I'd guess not, since BII can't use USB. But maybe the host can use it in the background and send the pictures to the shared folder :)

Depends on the System/MacOS version, but in both System 7.1 and System 7.5, the Sound control panel is in the Control Panels folder in the System folder. A "Sound" extension does not exist. Maybe adespoton refers to the "Sound Manager" extension. It was available in early System...

Re: BasiliskII for Windows

That's possibly a different issue: by default, BII doesn't present the sound hardware in PRAM in a way that 7.1 will recognize by default. An easy way around this is to copy the sound extension and control panel from Mac OS 7.5 to System 7.1, at which point you can select the audio device from the c...
