Re: Classic Macintosh: New TCP/IP and Apps

Yes, beta testers. I'm afraid there is a technical bar to entry which has regrettably kept the number of beta testers lower than I would like, and that's the PPP over serial connection. The goal is to write the original triad of Internet applications and have them compatible with a Mac 128K: FTP , T...

Re: New Mac 512K Blog

I don't know. Wasn't that a disk compression utility that operated at the device driver level? That's a name slip on my part; Stacker was indeed that disk driver level compression utility; I used it for a while under System 7. I was thinking of Servant. Ah, Servant. I've played around with that in ...

Re: New Mac 512K Blog

Thanks for the heads-up! Did Stacker run on the 512k, or was that just for 128k? I don't know. Wasn't that a disk compression utility that operated at the device driver level? I have to admit, I moved from the 128k directly to a Plus, and so skipped the 512k altogether. The 512ke is essentially a P...

New Mac 512K Blog

I recently started a Mac 512K Blog where I'm focusing on original research and investigation towards all subjects to do with the Fat Mac, such as software, repair, programming, peripherals, and history. It's chronicling my adventures and projects with a Mac 512K and 512Ke. I have many articles plann...

Re: Announcing Enhanced File Catalogs for Mac GUI Vault

As soon as I get a MacRoman code page, I'll be converting all names to UTF-8, or at least ISO-8859-1.

Announcing Enhanced File Catalogs for Mac GUI Vault

Today's Mac GUI Vault update brings enhanced file catalogs to over 70% of the 27,000 files currently in the Vault archive; that's almost 19,000 files. These file catalogs are in the search database too, so you can use them to find the programs that you're looking for. Some files, such as BinHex and ...

Newsgroup proposal for comp.sys.mac.vintage

I have posted an RFD proposal to create a new Usenet newsgroup called comp.sys.mac.vintage for discussion of PPC and 68k Macintosh computers. If anyone here still reads Usenet, and would be interested in such a group, please head over to news.groups.proposals and make your comments on the RFD. Thanks!

Re: New Apple II User's Guide

I just purchased the ISBN for the book. ISBN-13: 978-0-615-63987-1 (it is not assigned yet, so looking it up won't return any information-- yet. But I do own it!) Using this ISBN, you will be able to order the book from just about any bookstore in the world, not just Amazon.com. Further updates will...
