Re: Basilisk II Serial Ports & Big Sur: Anybody have this working?

Just tried that now. Also gave it full disk access, which might have been a thing. Results are the same though.

Re: Basilisk II Serial Ports & Big Sur: Anybody have this working?

I forgot I had tried the bluetooth device as well. Same luck.

I tried pointing at a file on my desktop that I knew my user had perms to, but same luck. No modem or printer port available.

Re: Basilisk II Serial Ports & Big Sur: Anybody have this working?

So far, and I'm totally out of ideas:
- chown the /dev/tty.usbserial-FT53JP031 device to my user, and run BII as me. no luck.
- run BII as su: no luck.

Basilisk II Serial Ports & Big Sur: Anybody have this working?

I posted a question earlier that was more generically about OS X builds of Basilisk, but it appears maybe the problem is more specific to Big Sur: https://www.emaculation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=11071 Does anyone have serial port forwarding working in Big Sur? Can you say what you had to do?

Re: Beta version of new Basilisk II GUI

I just fired up 0.18, was using 0.15, it ran without a problem. M1 Air on Big Sur. maybe try wiping the BII settings and seeing if it works from scratch?

Re: Serial Port mapping in Basilisk II with host OS X?

I've tried with just "sudo xxx/BasiliskII", but get same results. It seems to be reading the prefs settings (has same disks/screen size/etc) so I don't think it's that the port settings are getting lost. Is there something else I should be putting on the command line for options?

Well I'm not *I* could easily do that, I don't have the foggiest clue how I would do that. Any hints?

Re: Serial Port mapping in Basilisk II with host OS X?

No matter what value I put there, in BII, if I open say Zterm, both the modem and serial port will be unavailable (OSErr -23). "Modem Port is not available. Please select another port:" ### Error: -23 opening port I get the same -23 in my own code in BII, when calling OpenDriver(). (works ...

Serial Port mapping in Basilisk II with host OS X?

I'm trying to test a program I'm developing for classic Macs that uses the serial port. I see references to being able to Map serial ports to OS X /dev/tty* serial devices, but I can't get anything to stick there. I can get that working in SheepShaver. I don't suppose there's a trick that works? eg,...

Re: Midi for Mini vMac

Resurrecting this post... I'm working on an app that will (hopefully) let you sync a folder on computer A (modern Mac, eg.) with a a folder on a retro computer (eg, a Mac Plus or 512K) via serial (only), not TCP/ethernet (imagine very slow rsync). Whether or not you think that's a dumb idea, I shrug...
