Re: The UTM Thread

@adespoton: last night I just installed Full Throttle MacOS version for OS 9, and I am getting stuttering sounds for everything on it (effects, music, voice). I have tried two different game image versions. Funnily enough a similar game (The Dig) from the same studio (Sierra) doesnt have such issues...

Re: The UTM Thread

@adespoton: Have you tried to edit the qemu_vga.ndrv from UTM to include the missing resolutions? You could write a doc to osy to tell him how to fix it in the next release. I've tried, but it appears that, just like you suspected, EDID=on... isn't. so qemu_vga.ndrv isn't loaded. Yeah. Osy needs to...

Re: The UTM Thread

Hmmm... looks like vanilla QEMU and UTM requires SPICE guest agent tools to be installed in order to be able to use clipboard sharing and shared direcctory (this case requires SPICE WebDAV service to be installed). Not gonna happen since there are no SPICE guest tools for MacOS and OS X. We'll need ...

Re: The UTM Thread

For every day working, 9.0.4 in SheepShaver is the cleanest way to work, as it already has shared folder functionality. You can just drag your files into the shared folder and then work with them on the host or guest as needed. 9.0.4 in UTM is more of a "QEMU can do this, UTM should be able to...

Re: The UTM Thread

I know sheepshaver, I tried it when I had an Intel Mac. Now I have only a M1 MB Air. Having tried several emulators in the last three years, I decided that I was much more comfortable with QEMU / UTM. Having an all in one solution made it easier for me and saved me a lot of nights awake setting up t...

Re: The UTM Thread

I’ll read again your post later for a better response, about the OS versions, but anyway speaking about shared directories, I have a Time Capsule and I can transfer back and forth the files using DAVE on 9.2.2. At first I was amazed that I could navigate the TC so easily. I haven’t tried yet, but I ...

Re: The UTM Thread

I've got https://github.com/adespoton/utmconfigs updated now; every OS from 9.1 through macOS 11 is working except 10.6. Still have to sort out the UEFI config for that, and get 9.0.4 working again. 3.1.1 seems to have fixed most of the stability issues I found in 3.1.0. That's awesome. I have only...

Re: The UTM Thread

I haven’t seen any crashes yet, but I chose not to save screenshots since the start. However even with this option disabled, sometimes when I turn off my VMs they have a screenshot saved there. All VMs are stored in an external drive.

Re: The UTM Thread

He added it to the milestone goal: https://github.com/utmapp/UTM/milestone/21 Since 3.1.0 is still a beta, I wonder if he will include it for the final 3.1.0 release. 1680x1050 is definitely the best resolution for a 13" MacBook on MacOS 9.2. I can run 1920x1080 when using the 40" external...

I am still missing the above screen resolutions in MacOS 9.2 though.

How can I format a disk image that can be written within the guest? I'm running Mac OS 9.2 on a host MacBook running Catalina I've tried creating a .cdr file and renaming to .iso extension. The guest still sees the drive as read only, despite me unlocking the file within the get info dialog. Am I f...

Re: The UTM Thread

Eh? Then this is interesting. They need to make -nodefaults optional with a checkbox. But this doesn't fix the problem entirely, just creates new problems for others. I think I was having this issue even before that. Cannot be SPICE, because there are no SPICE drivers for macOS 9. Only for Linux and...

Re: The UTM Thread

Yeah, I know. However, UTM apparently does not set edid to "on", arguing that this setting was on by default, so no need to set it up manually (again). I can't check it on iOS again because I no longer own the iPad Pro. I checked it on my Mac with an external monitor and albeit it does sup...

Re: The UTM Thread

Just updated to the latest 3.0.4 and I still miss two resolutions from macOS 9.2.2 VM: - 1440x900 - 1680x1050 These are two of the supported full screen resolutions on M1 MacBook Air "13 and they don't show up. I can run 1920x1080 when I am using a 40" external monitor but that's overkill....

Re: Playing 3D games via QEMU and Mac OS X emulation....

Im using a qemu fork called qemu-3dfx to play dos/windows glide and opengl games. when it comes to direct3d games, zero luck. I need a working WineD3D library for this to work. I tried many but they don’t work. The fork developer does not want to give them free, asks for a hefty donation, $60, to en...

This is what I used with the screamer fork before UTM.

In UTM, the latest versions, I run the G4 with 9.2.2 just fine. Zero issues.

As said above, a tablet driver coming with the OS was only available from 10.2.8 or even 10.3 upwards

Re: The UTM Thread

Newer OS like Win 7+ guests require the installation of SPICE tools for that to work better.

Linux guest users must install it from apt-get.

modern macOS i believe does not have any SPICE tools?

old OS are left out, no SPICE tools for them.

Re: Unreal Tournament on QEMU (UTM)

Its actually very good. Since you are on M1 Mac, I think you can get the linux version using 3d if you install Ubuntu ARM64 with virtio-gpu-gl. I got one or two Direct3D games running on Windows 11 ARM64 through UTM on my M1 MacBook Air, not very playable, but it was expected, I'm on M1 Air but on M...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-MoBz6kDFc You can try this, but I bet this is a modified version of Snow Leopard for Intel. From all I can remember about hackintoshes, which I did until 2014, I only used Chameleon at the beginning (For Lion and later) and Clover (for Mavericks or Sierra and Later)...

It's strange that you can get 10.7 functional (Lion) but not 10.6 (Snow Leopard).

Try this method: https://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/04 ... -x-on.html

Re: Running Snow Leopard (x86) in UTM on M1

When you boot in verbose mode, what are the errors you are seeing? I did some hackintoshes back early in last decade until 2014, and I did have some headaches with them. Sometimes I did work around to make them work. Maybe, I don't know, I have never used OpenCore just what was available back then u...
