What distribution of linux are you using? Some distros will put libs in differant places, beyond where the autogen script can find.

I'm no developer, but I think you have to setup whatever the equivalent of make.conf is, and set:

CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"
CFLAGS="-mcpu=i586"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"

You don't have to mount the CD in order for SheepShaver to read it. Just make sure in the SheepShaver GUI the "Disable CDROM Support" option is NOT checked, and "Boot From" is set to CDROM (not ANY). My CD's say that too when linux attempts to mount them, but it shouldn't bother ...
