Re: BasiliskII will not launch on M2 Mac
I am not sure the developer of the Basilisk II GUI app will agree.
Besides, this is the first time someone reports trying the wrong app first. Which one to use with which macOS versions is clearly indicated with the download links. I will clarify this better in the setup manual.

You will find the QuickDraw 3D extensions in the MacOS System Folder, but SheepShaver does not (fully) support 3D. SheepShaver does not emulate the needed graphical hardware.

Re: How do I Install Disk Copy?
You do not need Disk Copy. The way to mount a disk image file in BasiliskII is not to import it in BasiliskII, but to leave it on the host side and add it in the GUI to the volume list. If you you use the latest BasiliskII build posted here, there is an even easier way. Simply drag the image file fr...

Re: BasiliskII will not launch on M2 Mac
Indeed. As indicated in the post with download links:
The BasiliskIIGUI app is 32 bit only and can be used up to macOS 10.14 (Mojave).
The Basilisk II GUI app can be used in macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) and later. (And it is universal, will run on both Intel and Apple Silicon)

Re: SS will not run in Ventura (under OpenCore Legacy Patcher only)
You could post about your issue here: https://github.com/kanjitalk755/macemu But I am pretty sure that the developer (kanjitalk755) will not look into issues that are specific to running SheepShaver on macOS that was installed with OpenCore Legacy Patcher. SheepShaver runs fine in Ventura (and Sonom...

Re: SS will not run in Ventura
If you did a regular upgrade of macOS in place, without changing any SheepShaver related file, SheepShaver should continue to run fine. Did the latest build work fine in Monterey before you upgraded to Ventura? If installed the newer build after upgrading macOS, first try this: - Copy SheepShaver ap...

Re: What apps (not games) do people actually use in BII/SS?
In SheepShaver I still use AppleWorks 6 occasionally to view or modify (bring up-to-date) and print old documents. Some documents exactly fit my needs and I never bothered to reconstruct them in a newer application.

Re: Can SS write to large external drive? An AEFX question!
In SheepShaver Preferences (Settings in Ventura and later) you should be able to browse to and choose an external disk as "Unix Root" (the shared folder).

Re: macOS Ventura - Cursor overlap in FullScreen mode
If you use in your prefs file the custom setting hardcursor true you could try if changing it to hardcursor false solves the issue. Edit: Apparently adespoton posted at almost the same time with the opposite suggestion. The hard cursor is the cursor of the host machine, the soft cursor is the cursor...

I tried all situations you describe, but I cannot reproduce this behaviour in macOS 14.1 Sonoma on Apple Silicon.
Do you use my latest (10 August 2023) build?
Do you run Sonoma on Apple Silicon?

Re: Basilisk II GUI on MacOS 14 Sonoma can't access the file open dialog.
The bug became apparent in Sonoma. The developer is working on it. In the meantime you can add volumes to the prefs file manually using a text editor. You can open the prefs file using Terminal: Launch Terminal (in /Application/Utilities/) and type at the prompt open ~/.basilisk_ii_prefs followed by...

Re: basilisk crash on Monterey 12.6.8
"ignoresegv true" is already in the prefs file. Where does this prefs file come from? It contains settings that will not be written by the current BasiliskII app nor by the GUI apps. Is this setup migrated from an older Mac or did you do a new setup? Apparently you did not follow our setup...

Re: SheepShaver crashing on startup
The path looks strange with /*/ in it. What is the actual path to the SheepShaver app? Is the SheepShaver app inside the SheepShaver folder with the renamed ROM file? Most users will place the SheepShaver app in the "SheepShaver" folder in /Applications, but it can also be run from anywher...

Re: SheepShaver crashing on startup
It is very strange that the file ~/.sheepshaver_prefs (the hidden file .sheepshaver_prefs in your Home folder) could not be found in Catalina, where you said you had SheepShaver running. The file will be created when SheepShaver is run the first time. Anyway, on the Mac where you want to set up Shee...

Re: SheepShaver crashing on startup
You set RAM to a value that MacOS9 and SheepShaver cannot handle. 256 MB is usually sufficient, 512 MB is plenty. You will need to change the value in the prefs file manually to a lower value: Launch Terminal (in /Applications/Utilities/) and type at the prompt open ~/.sheepshaver_prefs followed by ...

I suppose that is how the game is designed. When you click anywhere in the menu bar and then move the arrow along the menu bar, the menu titles will appear underneath the arrow in white.

Mini vMac 36.04 works fine here with System 6.0.8 and System 7.0.1 on my Apple Silicon Mac with Ventura. (I will wait with upgrading to Sanoma till at least version 14.1.) Although this is with Ventura, I cannot imagine what would be different with Sanoma. Are you sure the disk images contain intact...

This download also works fine in SheepShaver with MacOS 9.0.4 on macOS 13.6 on Apple Silicon. The zip archive contains the expected cue/bin pair. After mounting the cue file as CD-ROM, I can play the game from the mounted CD, no need to install the game. No crash here when the color depth is not yet...

Re: Working on bin/cue support in SheepShaver
I cannot make this work in SheepShaver for macOS. In the cases where I got a bin/cue pair to work, I added the cue file as CD-ROM and made sure the bin file is in the same folder as the cue file. But in those cases there was only one bin file. Here I get 61 bin files after unzipping. BTW: This is th...
