I don't know how I completely missed all this! Thanks for sharing, Clockwise.

Very exciting to see the next book coming, mossy, and am backing now!

SheepShaver on macOS Big Sur

I've been playing around with the beta for macOS 11.0: Big Sur. The good news is that SheepShaver builds and runs just fine! https://i.imgur.com/4jZibvl.png There are a couple considerations though: 1. This is running on Intel, so it's not too surprising that everything's fine. Not much has changed ...

Re: Basilisk II CD capability

Ronald and adespoton are right as BII probably won't do exactly what you want. However, if you want to try this build of BasiliskII , you'll be able to play CD audio from bin/cue images (download it under Assets -> BasiliskII.app.zip ). These features aren't in main builds yet due to some outstandin...

Re: Escape Velocity Override Remaster KickStarter

The project reached its main goal! Now they're working on getting to 1000 backers and a little extra money to incorporate some additional graphical updates. The sequel stretch goal is a bit far off with this being the last day, but if the game does well upon release, I'm sure Peter Cartwright still ...

Re: Apeiron mouse problem

I recall having a discussion on Mac Garden about Input Sprockets and mouse controls in Mars Rising. For that game, the strategy of locking the mouse to SheepShaver with control-f5 seemed to work: https://macintoshgarden.org/forum/workaround-mars-rising-control-screen . Does that improve mouse perfor...

Re: Escape Velocity Override Remaster KickStarter

The campaign received a one-week extension! I made a small video about some of the important aspects (at least, to me  ) of Cosmic Frontier: Override. Hopefully, we can continue to generate interest and excitement as the goal nears.

Re: Escape Velocity Override Remaster KickStarter

Thanks for sharing this, ClockWise! To comment a bit regarding the background and permissions, this remaster is coming from Peter Cartwright, scenario designer of Escape Velocity: Override. He gladly discusses details on his Discord , and some info is also covered in Richard Moss's excellent book , ...

Re: New System 7 setup on OSx Catalina

I've encountered similar issues in the past. Not sure if this will fix any of the problems, but here's what I do: --- Regarding the BasiliskII build error, the Xcode project for BII seems a bit flaky when it comes to making dependencies. I usually explicitly select the "gencpu" and "b...

Ferazel's Wand: Celebrating 20 Years!

These 20th anniversary livestreams have been a lot of fun, so I wanted to do one more as we reach the end of Ambrosia's classic game anniversaries. Ferazel's Wand, their first CD release and final classic-only Mac title, is an action-packed, magical adventure game created by Ben Spees. It combined 2...

Re: [solved] hybrid cdrom emulation

Upon further inspection, I found that multiple bin/cue files can handle status and data-related calls, but audio calls are always invalid and fallback to the first mounted disc. I suspect this is actually a Mac OS issue, although it could be a bug introduced lower in the emulation pipeline. On the f...

Re: [solved] hybrid cdrom emulation

Thanks for testing with your setup. I'm glad to hear it's working! I've extended support for mounting any number of bin/cue images, so try pulling and rebuilding from cdaudio_test to check that. The main limitation is with Apple's own software. For instance, the built-in CD player seems unable to re...

Re: hybrid cdrom emulation

This is relevant to the discussion about bin/cue support in Sheepshaver . I've only had success with audio CDs in Sheepshaver using this option since CD passthrough doesn't really work anymore and most image formats don't save audio partitions. In your other topic you mentioned working in Linux, so ...

Re: Working on bin/cue support in SheepShaver

I've continued to play around with the Sound Input Manager and am now much more familiar with how Sheepshaver & BII handle drivers. The patched driver which traps out to audio.cpp's logic is making headway but is still fighting me when it comes to registering the STR# resource of available input...

Cythera 20th Anniversary Livestream on Sep. 13!

Given the recent discussion about Ambrosia on this board, I thought I'd mention that Ambrosia Software's Cythera just passed 20 years since release. It's true that getting the license to work is a bit of a pain, but at least it's a one-time process. For this particular error, it seems switching to a full new system like emendelson's is the easiest fix. It will be interesting to see what happens. Re: Internetconfig is not properly installed

It sounds like you have a full install, so I"m not sure what's happening to you. I looked through Ambrosia's old support forum for PoG, and this issue came up a handful of times but never with a resolution. A couple ideas that might help narrow the problem: - Have you tried the mac_pog_demo fro...
