Re: A "rootless" app running a no-desktop BasiliskII

It turned out that it works with SDL2 2.0.22 embedded in your app, but not with the latest 2.28.4. Thank you for sorting this out. I remembered also that I fixed a similar problem by deleting the xpram file, but that may not be relevant. Is it possible to edit the code so that it works with the lat...

Re: A "rootless" app running a no-desktop BasiliskII

I can't figure out what's wrong. The only differences in the code are that the above build adds default settings for "disk" and "rom" and change the location of the prefs file. I can upload that code if it might be useful. I downloaded my merged code in a zip file from this page:...

Re: System 7 coexisting with macOS X

I have synced my master branch with kanjitalk755’s, but I’m using the rootless_updated branch for merging, which I haven’t done yet. I used your rootless_updated code for the merging that I used in my fork. I hope I've acknowledged that you and zydeco did all the work, and that I've only put it tog...

Re: System 7 coexisting with macOS X

@emendelson I appreciate the effort you've gone to, but this method of redistributing is somewhat less useful to me. In the future, I'll try to avoid posting anything that isn't fully useful to you. Meanwhile, anyone can download my code (see link above) and build it according to kanjitalk755's ins...

And have now posted a version that won't produce the error message produced by the version I posted earlier. Apologies for wasting your time if you already downloaded.

A "rootless" app running a no-desktop BasiliskII

First: Everything in this post is based on the work of the programmers who call themselves kanjitalk755, zydeco, and mabam. All I did was string it together. For details of where this is coming from, see this thread: https://www.emaculation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=77159#p77159 Next: here is an App...

Somehow I doubt that. Although my day job requires me to talk about books written in many languages, whenever I'm in the Netherlands, I feel like a monoglot barbarian.

Probably I did! What was the error so that I can fix it?

Re: Qemu-system-m68k macOS to run Mac OS 7-8 /AUX3.x /NetBSD

And, as you said, the Monitors control panel is unstable. When I tried to change the color seting from millions of grays (I don't remember setting it that way, but that's what it was) to 256 colors, the system crashed. Working correctly now. It occurs to me that it shouldn't be hard to combine the m...

Re: Qemu-system-m68k macOS to run Mac OS 7-8 /AUX3.x /NetBSD

Well, this is strange. I tried it twice, and posted an image of the two monitors side by side, with the numbers 1 and 2 identifying them correctly. But I couldn't drag from one to the other. But now I tried it a third time, and it works perfectly! Thank you for your patience with this. And while I'm...

Your command line is fine. This is a pram issue. Here are two pram files: one empty (to keep as spare), one that works with A/UX at my place: https://surfdrive.surf.nl/files/index.php/s/7xMHUXvb6MMIeTt/download Aha! Thank you! I would never have guessed this. Now - this should be obvious to me, but...

Re: System 7 coexisting with macOS X

By using mabam's xproj file and adding some lines that I forgot to add earlier, I seem to have this working.

Please feel free to download and test the code in the link a couple of posts above.

Re: Qemu-system-m68k macOS to run Mac OS 7-8 /AUX3.x /NetBSD

I was wondering how you are doing with the multi-display setup. Best, Cat_7 Apologies for silence. I haven't tried it yet, because I don't have a second monitor here to use with my MacBook Air. At some point, I'll borrow the second monitor that my wife is using, but that will have to wait until she...

Re: SS Wrapper & Modifying OS9

Actually, I now see that what the poster must have meant is a script that you saved as an applcation from the old Script Editor, with the options Never show startup screen and Stay open (I'm misremembering the exact words). So I was wrong to complain that it was impossible. In fact, I'm using someth...

Re: System 7 coexisting with macOS X

I think is going to need some heavy work on the code. I spent more time on it than I want to admit, without results. I think it should be possible to merge mabam's updated code with kanjitalk755's code to create an updated rootless version, and I spent some time trying to do that, but I couldn't get...

That's exactly what I did with my WordPerfect app, but I'd like to make it easier to manage for other users. Someone who knows how to write code could probably see how to replace the "HOME" location in the source, but I can't.

And if anyone wants to experiment with this, here's a copy built under Mojave and notarized: @emendelson any chance of a newer build of your rootless? I'm able to build this, but I'm still trying to figure out how to specify that the prefs file should be in the same folder with the application. Rep...

Just out of curiosity: when I run the game (in Windows and macOS), the Mac OS menu is unreadable (dark colors on dark colors). Do you know a setting that makes it readable?
