Re: SheepShaver in X11 on OS X
Apple stopped supporting X11 after Snow Leopard; XQuartz took over, and the ABI is slightly different there. Leopard only ever had the Beta version of X11 IIRC, so was never officially supported. But it should still work; it's at least worth the attempt.

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system
When we were looking at networking on Shoebill, we found that after bringing up the card, we had to fill the buffer before the OS would talk to the card correctly, otherwise it would just throw an error. Maybe something like this is happening in Darwin, where the card is active and the interface is ...

Re: SheepShaver in X11 on OS X
Not really, I haven't compiled an X11 target since Apple stopped releasing their own X11. Before that, I just used the same target options that were used for Linux and it worked. But XQuartz isn't quite the same engine, so there's bound to be a few differences.

Re: Red Star OS
I seem to recall back in the day someone took the WMI they developed it and installed it on vanilla KDE3 WM. I seem to recall that a few of the widgets didn't place quite accurately; that was version 1.0 though, they might have fixed that.

Re: SheepShaver in X11 on OS X
Haven't tried an X11 target for years, but the issues you're describing are with SDL, so X11 should be a potential fix. Changing SDL version might also be a possibility.

Here's an image with some details from PearPC 0.5 -- I've never had an issue with crashes on my 10.1 VM. Maybe we can figure out where the two differ to figure out what's going wrong in qemu? 10.0 of course won't run in PearPC, but theoretically should run in qemu if 9.1 does. http://s27.postimg.org...

I have no idea where I compiled this list from, but it looks similar to what's available at http://www.everymac.com/systems/by_capability/ . It's possible I originally got these from Apple documentation. If anyone can add an attribution, please do; I know this wasn't written by me as it's not my wri...

MD5 hashes of Apple ROMs
I figured that people would probably like to have an easy way of figuring out which Mac ROM they're using, as even if you're dumping from your own computer, a single model sometimes had a number of different ROMs over production lifetime, and sometimes different models shared the same ROM. The detai...

Re: can't mount HFS volumes in Mavericks using Fuse HFS
sshfs appears to work properly. Also, the release notes for OSXFUSE 2.8.2 on the project website mentions fixes for OS X 10.11, implying that it should work without problems. I would really rather not disable SIP at all to use Fuse HFS. I use Mini vMac too, but I need to be able to create/write to ...

Re: can't mount HFS volumes in Mavericks using Fuse HFS
I think you need to temporarily disable SIP while setting up OSXFuse. Once that's done and you re-enable SIP, I think FuseHFS *should* work. I say *should* because I haven't actually tried it; I switched to just using Mini vMac to manage my images years ago, as it's the only place I can read/write M...

You can go into Terminal and run SheepShaver.app/Contents/MacOS/SheepShaver -- I'm getting non-useful error codes when I get this with bad configurations though.

Does it work for you under XP/7/8? Or is this more a case of setting things up differently than in the instructions on the Wiki?

Re: Sheepshaver won't start
At this point, I'm curious: if you install Mavericks in VirtualBox or another VM, and copy your configuration over, does it start running again? Even before that: if you create a new user in Yosemite and launch it from there, does it work? There's enough of us that have had 0 problems with Yosemite ...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system
This reminds me... I've been thinking for a while that it would be neat to take the qemu core in VirtualBox and replace it with a full, modern qemu with all platforms supported. This is as a replacement for KVM on OS X, which doesn't have a virtual machine interface to the kernel (but Sun/Oracle hav...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system
Interesting... so what's the 5th library loaded after the port scan? Test 2 would appear to indicate that the first library is ASLM related. The changes in Test 3 and 4 appear to keep going until unexpected values are presented to the 5th loaded library if I'm reading that correctly.

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system
Sorry; I think it was me being sleepy. It's polling SerialA and SerialB; it can also poll things on ADB, but only if they've got a pseudo-port entry already. So the main focus is SerialA and SerialB. ADB communications dongles shouldn't be an issue.

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system
Depends on you look at it; in that document, see kOTPortIsPrivate and kOTPortIsAlias -- 'serial' is an alias that generally points to ADB ports A and B. However, I seem to recall OTRunPortScanners is actually scanning the pseudo-ports, which includes AppleTalk virtual ports. By extension, it is prob...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system
I'm currently having that same problem with debuggers off on that build, attempting to boot 10.4. I'm trying to see what happens if I install 9.2.2 as Classic inside 10.4.11, but due to the mouse vanishing, I'm not getting all that far :( I don't recall having this issue on previous QEMU builds. IIR...

Re: Sheepshaver won't start
Do you have networking enabled? If so, does it work with networking disabled?
10.11 uses a new security model that needs to be temporarily disabled to properly install tun/tap. If you're attempting to use tuntaposx on an upgraded OS, it will fail, as will any software that depends upon it.
