Re: My BasiliskII sound drops out during playing games
Do I just set up Qemu but the screamer build? Because I see lots of guides for qemu so I assume "screamer" is set up the same way. EDIT: Another question, I was looking at the screamer builds and was wondering if they are portable? That way when I need a new computer I can just transfer t...

Re: Netatalk for macOS - networking classic and modern Macs
*newb alert* *have mercy* Does anyone know how to use/configure @dgsga 's latest Netatalk for modern Macs to use AFP 2.2? Trying to setup my Sonoma Mac to serve files to my Apple IIGS (via AFPBridge on the IIGS). afp.conf is for Netatalk 3.X... As far as I know, modern Macs can't use AFP 2.2 by def...

Re: My BasiliskII sound drops out during playing games
That's the other emulator correct? I haven't tried it yet, I was waiting until I got to games that require systems 10 and up (which I think is what sheepshaver ends and qemu begins). The Screamer build of qemu-system-ppc has audio support, and boots Mac OS 9.0.4 and up. Unlike Basilisk II and Sheep...

Re: Qemu Pegasos2/AmigaOneXe AmigaOs4.1
Hello, we have been able to massively improve the Pegasos2/AmigaOneXe emulation on Mac ARM/Intel for about a year with the help of (Balaton Zoltan Qemu developer). When I started, everything was pretty much unusable. Many will not know the Pegasos2/AmigaOneXe as real hardware it is a G3/G4 machine ...

Re: My BasiliskII sound drops out during playing games
Has anybody found a solution to this yet? I want to play the Ambrosia game "Ares" 1998. It has great music and sheepshaver causes sound to stutter and skip so it's wasted there but in Basilisk it plays for a while and then cuts out like other games. So I have the choice of stuttering in s...

Re: Tiger for Intel on VMs
What's your host system? Which VM app are you using? Intel Tiger Retail 10.4.7 and up works on VMWare Fusion (with a hack to make it think it's Tiger Server), Parallels Desktop, VirtualBox (with some extra parameters added to the config file) and QEMU-x86 (using virtualization, not using TCG) using...

Re: Qemu virtio drivers for Mac OS 9.x
This is fantastic news indeed! :) I can't wait to install the updated Windows QEMU PPC build once it's ready; thanks to everyone working on this!! I did have a little side question on resolutions: I thought QEMU PPC supported multiple resolutions in 9.2.2? I tried -g width x height x depth, -full s...

Re: 10.4.11 iso?
Whether qemu-system-ppc64 will be developed further to support running OSX is up to spare time and motivation of the few qemu developers that invest in our niche use case. Are you saying PowerPC64 currently doesn't work and should be avoided, or that it's merely untested, or what, exactly? Interest...

Re: 10.4.11 iso?
Best solution I've found is the 10.4.7 universal install DVD followed by the 10.4.11 combo update. That's what I used with my UTM config as well as with my qemu-system-ppc builds from here.

Re: Qemu virtio drivers for Mac OS 9.x
Thanks it works great but I had to move the "-bios ./openbios-qemu-virtiogpu.elf" option AFTER the -boot and -drive options, otherwise I was getting the "no valid state has been set by load or init-program" from openBIOS. There's so much outdated and conflicting info about runni...

Even more curious if I replace the SDL2.dll in the Qemu-m68k-Win64-qfb-experimental-05-10-2022 build with the latest version 2.28.5.0 the cmd key still works fine when using -display sdl, weird?!? Sounds like a libsdl2 issue then; one that's already been fixed. Makes me think maybe the experimental...

Re: Cannot get Mini vMac to run on rPi
I gave up and went back to 32 bit buster. I think you were right about the instructions not covering 64-bit OS. Did you succeed with a 32-bit OS? That's odd; the latest version of Mini vMac beta (not the release version) works with 64-bit AARCH64 for me, so I'd assume it should work with RPi 4+ as ...

Re: Using a virtual serial port
As far as I am aware, no serial ports are available in current versions of BasiliskII and those settings are non-functional. What do you want to use the ports for? Maybe there is a different way to achieve what you want. I'm running macteminal on an SE (os 6) connected via serial to a python progra...

Re: SheepShaver Installation and User Guides
Where are you storing the SheepShaver app, and with what permissions?
I've had issues like that before when only a user account had access to the main app, and it kept losing the bundle associations.

Re: Is there a way to make QEMU PPC faster?
From his comments, he's running a host with 8GB RAM. I switched from 8GB to 16GB in 2015; I can't imagine having less than 32GB for emulation and virtualization on x86 hardware today, especially if the host is running Windows 11. 8GB is the minimum RAM required for Windows 11, and I consider any mem...

I live in Japan. When we mount a Windows drive with BasiliskII and access a Windows file, the time stamp of the file advances by about 14 hours. Re: FUSE-HFS now works on Monterey!
Does copying stuff from HFS volumes using the kext version of fuseHFS work with resource forks? I copied some files using my fuse-t based version, and then used resource_dasm to extract them, but I got an error saying the resource fork is damaged. When I use BasiliskII or SheepShaver to copy those ...
