Re: So, what 3D games are compatible with the new hardware acceleration feature?

Is this new hardware acceleration feature going to be for Windows only? I can’t see any reference to it in the MacOS version of SheepShaver.

I tested without the sdl preference setting, and yes, it does work the same on each Mac. Thanks to everyone who worked on this.

Yes, it works fine on my non-Metal MacBook. With the opengl setting it behaves basically the same as the Metal-enabled iMac with the metal setting. The menu flashes so quick you can barely notice it, literally a fraction of a second.

Re: Odd full screen behavior in version 2.5 (7 Feb '21)

As this issue is really minor, a cosmetic issue that will last no longer than one second, during full-screen launch only, and only on Macs that are at least 8 years old, I think this change can be merged with the master branch. It lasts a second on my i9 iMac, and about 4 seconds on the 2008 Core 2...

Re: Odd full screen behavior in version 2.5 (7 Feb '21)

Or maybe someone else who can test the latest test_3 builds on a non-Metal Mac? Tested SheepShaver on a late 2008 MacBook (MacBook5,1) running El Capitan 10.11.6. It works, but exhibits the bouncing menu bar as described in my initial post. As would be expected, it ignores the setting "sdlrend...

I wish I could help test this, but unfortunately my only non-Metal supporting Mac (2008 MacBook) is too old to load High Sierra.

Re: Odd full screen behavior in version 2.5 (7 Feb '21)

I have implemented a workaround of this issue. https://github.com/kanjitalk755/macemu/tree/test_fullscreen2 If your hardware supports Metal and you want to improve the behavior of fullscreen, append following line to ~/.sheepshaver_prefs. sdlrender metal Using the fullscreen2 branch and setting the...

Re: Odd full screen behavior in version 2.5 (7 Feb '21)

The alternate build works fine in Mojave. This time it flashes back and forth between a black screen and the desktop for about 1 second, but then proceeds to launch and run normally. I personally find that far less annoying than the bouncing menu bar. It would be good to preserve the option to choos...

Thanks for arranging the quick fix on the title bar. Yes, the SDL issue makes sense now. I recall similar but not identical behavior when switching from SDL1 to SDL2 on some builds of DOSBox. I have built from source before using the instructions on kanjitalk755's Github page. Do you know if there i...

Odd full screen behavior in version 2.5 (7 Feb '21)

I am experiencing an odd window related behavior with the latest build of 7 February 2021. I am using macOS Mojave 10.14.6 on a retina iMac. I always launch SheepShaver in full screen mode. When launching, at the part where I see an all-black screen (and prior to the desktop with 'happy Mac' appeari...

This is getting close to a pull request: Most CD audio features are implemented and work in Apple's CD Audio Player (except Shuffle) Most mixed-mode games seem to recognize both the data and play their audio Cases of No-CD, Multiple-CD, or anywhere in-between will work. This is something that would be VERY useful. I've written AppleScript wrappers for SheepShaver and BasiliskII, but QEMU is beyond my abilities. We would be very glad to have a wrapped QEMU! I’ll second that. QEMU has a steep learning curve, so anything to make it a more user-friendly experience wou...

I don't know if the problem can be solved because it doesn't reproduce in my environment, but try the following code. https://github.com/kanjitalk755/macemu/tree/unlock_test I have not had time to try it in safe mode for a full crash report, but I am experiencing the same results as noted in my pre...

Just a thought. Did you try to launch SheepShaver full-screen after safe restart and/or safe login on the host? I tried that, and the freeze up occurred again. I used the key command to force quit SheepShaver and this time I got a dialog box with a crash report. The output is saved here: https://ww...

Re: Full screen problems in Mojave 10.14.6 and Catalina

Could we be looking at a security model change on Apple's part, that doesn't show up for some of us due to how we've got our Gatekeeper preferences and extended attributes set? If that would be the cause, wouldn't it happen always for those who experience the issue? Users either see the issue never...

It has definitely crossed my mind that it is security related, as those were the predominant changes that affected app launching starting in Mojave and carrying forward into Catalina. Also, I mentioned earlier that this issue does not affect High Sierra or earlier. To recap, this is what I have in m...

Re: Full screen problems in Mojave 10.14.6 and Catalina

On my 2019 iMac (with Mojave 10.14.6) it unfortunately still black screens and pinwheels as soon as I launch in full screen mode. Windowed mode works normally. When launching in full screen mode, if I am extremely quick to press control-return, it bypasses the freeze/pinwheel and takes it into windo...

I should note that a couple games I've tested work, but Warcraft I still refuses to play CD audio. I thought having playthrough enabled would change that.
