Cat_7,
You may want to check if you're running the smp with kvm.
Someone told me smp with kvm is broken somewhere after kernel 3.x.x
I'll be getting a QuickSilver, with Dual 7455's, so I'll be wanting to fix that too.

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system
Indeed, was not patient enough... waited a good half hour for it to get to desktop : http://galgot.free.fr/transit/David-Locke_201217(003).jpg extremely slow, unusable. But still makes a nice screenshot. I couldn't find the qemu-kvm package for my debian 8 PPC. I know some could install it but was ...

Does anyone remember the app?
It was a Classic OS app that was a benchmarking tool. It would benchmark PPC and 68k instructions.
Anyone remember it?
I think I read about it first on xlr8yourmac many years ago, but I don't remember the name of it.

@cat_7
Do you know why the sungem Ethernet doesn't work with 32bit binaries of qemu-system-ppc?
Who's maintaining that?
Also, where is the git for the brach you built for sound support?
Thanks Cat,
The Darth One

Re: Add Voodoo2 emulation for Qemu?
I’ve been working with the fine folks at Openbios and SLOF for PCI Passthough of a VGA card( Apple OEM Geforce 6600 PCI-E ) The host system is Debian x86/AMD64. The current state of SLOF is I can get the fCode option rom to load to the end0, and it populates the parent, and all the .properties seem ...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system
BTW, @cat_7, what is the mac99p? Is it different that the mac99, I know there is a mac99_U, that does something with the USB for linux compatibility. Also, I've had success installing and using some linux distro's with qemu-system-ppc, and qemu-system-ppc64. I'm not sure it's an issue with Openbios,...

Re: The Quadra 800 coming to Qemu
I think Qemu is hesitant to use Rom's due to copyright issues, but then I've been wrong before. It sure would be nice to have a 68k emulator that could run the Mac OS in Qemu, tho an issue maybe that it runs too fast. That's a real first world issue, right there. Ballisk II still runs well...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system
I couldn't find the qemu-kvm package for my debian 8 PPC. I know some could install it but was on Ubuntu PPC i think, so maybe it's not on the Debian PPC repos... If you've built Qemu from any recent source, it supports KVM, so check and see if Debian PPC has the KVM module. lsmod | grep kvm If the...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system
Edit: The same compiled on Debian 8 PPC works too :) Here is OS 9.2.2, tried booting 10.3.9 but it hangs. It's slow of course on a Powerbook 1.67Ghz, but fun. On Debian 9 x86 host, sometime BootX hangs when booting OS X, but if you give it time, it will boot. Not sure if that's the trouble you are ...

I'm running a Debian 9 host, with a few Qemu virtual machines, I set up a bridged network, and I can connect to my host via smb from an install of High Sierra, but one of my PPC guests running Tiger can't connect. It see's the host smb share, but fails to login to it, password or user incorrect. I d...

Re: QEMU PowerPC emulation is S L O W
A new Qemu build for Windows has landed. It seems to be showing considerable speed improvements ;-) Possibly due to performance enhancements in the TCG just included in the source code. MacBench 3.0 results in Mac OS 9.2: From 2.11 (yesterday) to 2.12 pre (15-12-2017) Processor: 137 > 195 Floating ...

Thanks Cat7, I wanted to make sure I was pulling from the same source.
Let's discuss the CPU performance in the other thread, the mega thread is already, well, MEGA.

Re: Add Voodoo2 emulation for Qemu?
The code never links, so there is no binary I can test to see if it works or not. Tho I did run PCem in Wine on OS X, and once I configured everything right the Voodoo2 emulation is spot on. PCem doesn't do a good job of x86 emulation. Meaning it's really slow, as far a the CPU, some of that maybe o...

Re: Add Voodoo2 emulation for Qemu?
Yes, I noted that too, after Mark pointed me to the vga_config_cb(). I noticed before, with Voodoo4/5 that loading the Rom didn't do anything, so know I know why, but I'm unsure how to fix it. If other people want to take interest in emulating 3D hardware that would make things go a little faster, I...

Re: Add Voodoo2 emulation for Qemu?
Thanks, PK, I'm just a hacker, not really a programer, yet if I look at the code long enough, I can usually figure out how to make it work the way I want to. Detoking the FCode rom didn't yield anything of use to me, with my level of understanding of raw Forth. I noted a bunch references to unnamed ...

Re: QEMU PowerPC emulation is S L O W
Just a little testing on my end tells us what we have already found, FP and Vec performance is the bottleneck. Integer performance is pretty good. I was going to work on this after I got work done on GFX performance, but I may switch gears and try and get better CPU speed, then go back to GFX. Reall...

Re: Add Voodoo2 emulation for Qemu?
I was trying to send a file to myself, as file sharing between the host and guest can be problematic with Qemu with MacOS guests. I'm working a little with PCI Passthough of an Apple OEM Geforce 6600 PCI-E card. The trouble is Openbios doesn't probe for Option Roms on PCI cards, and the Nvidia Fcode...

Well, running the Mac OS is one thing, running LinuxPPC is something else all together.
It seems that I'm running on a 10 Mhz system.

Forgot command line option for ADB?
I'm trying to debug PCI Passthough of a Apple OEM Geforce 6600 with a PPC Fcode rom. Openbios doesn't seem to be able to use it as the display device, I'm assuming that it's not reading the FCode rom or there maybe words in the Rom openbios doesn't know. Anyway, I'm having to reroute Openbios output...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system
HAXM sounds interesting, I have a KVM.kext that creates /dev/kvm on the macOS, but it never really got passed the proof of concept stage, and all that can be done is to boot a linux kernel in qemu with it.
