Hi,

Yes, I did ask the developer, even before I left for a few days. But I haven't heard back from him just yet.

I also tried to compile a SheepShaver version from the time networking with the driver did work, but have failed miserably ;-)

Here is to hoping I get some reply soon.

And two other suggestion: 1. Don't use the startup disk control panel. It might lead to a non-bootable system. I believe the SheepShaver hard disks are actually big floppy disks for Mac OS 9. 2. Make sure you use some other folder for Unix root "/" folder in the GUI. This setting can creat...

Hi,

If you want to do that, it is best to use a new dmg that you use as second hard disk. You can unmount it to use it in SheepShaver, and mount it to use it in OSX.
This eliminates the problems with the resource and data forks in the "unix" shared folder.

Best wishes

Hi, Sorry, your English is way better then my French ;-) First, the image you created with Diskutility must NOT be mounted when you start SheepShaver. Second, of course it must be an uncompressed dmg, and must be read/write enabled. But I think the error you have comes from the disk image being moun...

Bonjour,

Alors, quelque questions:

-How big is the image you created? Please try with something less then 4 Gb.
-And did you also try to create it with the GUI itself?

Did you try to put it in the same folder as SheepShaver is in?

Best wishes,

The networking problems have started after the latest revision of the code. If you can download an older version from cvs, and compile it, chances are you get networking running in SheepShaver.

Hi,

Yes, you could try to set that up.
But be aware of the fact that OS9 and OSX use different file formats. I have seen files not show up in the shared " unix" folder in OS9 when put there from the OSX side.

Ah,

Yes, some of us are indeed progressing with time...But still there is a place for e.g, SheepShaver and Basilisk as they are able to give X86 mac users a classic environment to play with.

Hi,

I don't think I have good news for you: Appletalk doesn't behave nicely in SheepShaver using the slirp networking option. But as there is no other option....

Have you tried networking with system 8.5/8.6. It just seems a bit more stable than 9.0 networking.

The BasiliskII site at sourceforge is also the site for SheepShaver.

To get in touch with Gwenole Beauchesne, you can mail him at:
gb dot public at free dot fr (as Ronald already wrote in the previous post)

May I inquire as to what code you would like to contribute (just being nosy)

.sit files are stuffit files.

There is still a version for pre osx mac os's available from their site:
http://www.stuffit.com

If I am informed correctly, you might also look for stuffit expander in the installation packages of 7.5.3 It might be contained there as well.

About upgrading to 7.5.5: this is mostly a bug fix release. You can download the three disk images from Apple. To know what has changed between 7.5.3 and 7.5.5 read the readme first.
