Re: does anyone use Eureka the database enclopedia?

Nice finding adespoton! As archangelista already found Eureka working with Snow Leopard, it may be an option to run the app in a virtual machine, e.g. Tiger Server to Leopard Server with VMWare Fusion. Leopard Server with VMWare runs fine with my i5-2520m on a Mojave host, I did not try Catalina so ...

Re: Installing a MacOS 9 hard disk game how to proceed ?

The procedure as posted at MG seems to be this: Move the .SIT file via "This PC" to your Macs HDD - not to the desktop. Unstuff the .SIT with StuffitExpander. Mount the resulting .IMG with DiskCopy 6. DiskCopy 6 is not included with MacOS but you can find it at Macintoshgarden. Run DiskCop...

Re: Trying to read a hard drive from Performa 630

While you are with Windows, you might also give Basilisk II Build 142 a whirl. If you can manage to assign your Performa HDD a drive letter, BII might see the device. Alas, I´d agree that Leo Server is the most promising way. If you should have trouble setting up 10.5, there must be a working instan...

Re: Trying to read a hard drive from Performa 630

Maybe try to use the "Unix" folder to point to the device as seen by DiskUtility. More promising will be to try to assign the device to a virtual machine running Leopard Server. Leopard was the last OS with read/write ability for HFS formatted volumes, as you will know. See here for some d...

Yeah MIDI, many will be eager for a working setup I suppose. ;)

As for MusicMouse, the other DL for Classic is working with SheepShaver, OldWorldROM, MacOS 9.0.4.

Re: How to run ".sit.hqz" on Sheepshaver from windows

Found a (outdated) MiniVMac II app for Windows you may try. (If you find MiniVMac useful please consider donating to Paul C. Pratt who is maintaining the app.) Inflate the 7z file with 7Zip. In the folder you got, double click minivmac_27-24.exe. A window is opened. Drag MacII_HD75.dsk onto that whi...

Re: How to run ".sit.hqz" on Sheepshaver from windows

Great finding of such a beautiful retro site. https://i.ibb.co/KNpp3Gp/ls-rca-synth-116k.jpg Basically you want to inflate all "naked" Mac files on a Mac (emulator) with StuffitExpander. The apps are useless otherwise as the Mac resource forks are lost. To get going for now, feel free to t...

Re: Installation MacOS X Puma 10.1 no sound ?!

Macintoshgarden has a notable collection: https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/mac-osx-mac-os-10-ppc For your Windows PC, .toast files may be renamed to .ISO. Same for .CDR mostly. For .SIT files there is StuffitExpander for Windows - usually not recommended, but it should do for CD/DVD images. DMG may ...

Re: 0k required

The game from MacGarden is a sit compressed folder. SIT can only be inflated again on a Mac properly. As you already did that, could it be the ISO you made? Usually you would move the sit files to the emulated Macs HDD via "This PC" and unstuff with StuffitExpander. To get things rolling, ...

Re: How do I get the SheepShaver GUI to work on Windows?

Which way do you use to run Windows on your Mac? You will know that you can run SheepShaver in macOS without virtualisation. Usually you need to install the correct GTK runtime framework for the GUI as pointed to here: http://www.emaculation.com/sheepshaver/gtk+-2.10.13-setup.exe Also the SDL.dll is...

Re: How to hard shutdown on SheepShaver with Windows?

Ctrl-Shift-Escape should bring up Task Manager.
From there kill the SheepShaver task or anything else.

Depending on your virtualisation machine, there should also be a menu entry to shut down a guest VM.

I tried 15.0.32 from AppStore with a MBP 8,1 HackBook and did not encounter issues. Its a known fact that 32bit apps won´t work anymore, including Basilisk GUI and the standalone SheepShaver GUI. For me Catalina feels as usable as Mojave, though there will be no "must have" new features fo...

Re: .DSK-Compatibility vMac and Basilisk, HFVExplorer, SCSI2

I know that MiniVMac does write to .dsk images of RAW type. I used that procedure some time ago to write physical floppies from Terminal with dd in OSX. Maybe RAW is the key here too - dd does not like any headers for sure. Maybe this is still of use for you: https://www.emaculation.com/forum/viewto...

Lets assume you downloaded Classilla over here: http://www.floodgap.com/software/classilla/releases/ You get a 23MB .SIT files in your Downloads folder on Windows. From SheepShaver, navigate to the Downloads folder with "This PC". Drag the .SIT file to your SheepShaver HDD (NOT to the Desk...

Re: Sorry if this is a stupid question

A usual error. The .sit files must be moved to the emulated HDD and expanded there. The reason for the odd behaviour is that in MacOS every volume has its own Desktop folder. If you move something from "This PC" to the Desktop, the file actually is still on "This PC" which has a ...

For LodeRunner B/W and similar, I would recommend using MiniVMac, as thats the only Mac emulator with built in speed settings. I seem to recall LodeRunner was way too fast with Basilisk II. Adding games to your emulated HDD will usually need a installed Stuffit program, as Stuffit was THE app for ar...
