Send files from OS X 10.7+ to miniVMac?
Does anyone have any up-to-date information on whether it's possible (under recent versions of OS X) to write to a disk image that can be mounted in miniVMac? I know that I can mount an HFS disk image under OS X and copy files FROM it. But is there a way to copy to binary files (with resource fork i...

Re: Printing in OSX
As for the Brother printer and PostScript, I'm somewhat confused. The Brother site says that the HL-3150CDW is PostScript if it is an HL-3170CDW, whatever that means. As you can see from the table on this page, in the section headed "Printer" - http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/pub...

Re: PowerPC OSX on Qemu 1.6.0 for OSX
There's a prebuilt OS X version here:

I think I have a Jaguar disk somewhere, but it will take some time to find it, unfortunately.

Re: Printing from SheepShaver on Windows platform demystifie
Thanks for including this in the forum's printer setup guidelines. One additional note: If your printer is a postscript printer, you don't need step 3 in this process. Just use the queue of the ACTUAL printer when setting up your desktop printer in step 4 rather than setting up a postscript virtual...

Re: SheepShaver for Windows
What menu tabs are you referring to? Perhaps the tabs near the top of the window of the SheepShaverGUI application, as shown here: http://www.emaculation.com/lib/exe/fetch.php?hash=2f6037&media=http%3A%2F%2Femaculation.com%2Fsheepshaver%2Fsheep3.jpg My guess is that the tabs would not appear if...

Re: Unix disk doesn't show up
Try something simpler first, like /Users/Benji and then, when that works, change the string to the folder that you want. But definitely start with something that works and that you know corresponds to a real folder on your disk. (Make sure to use "benji" if your account name is actually &q...

Re: Copy & Paste between Word 5.1 in SheepShaver and OSX app
By the way, Word does have a dictionary (go to Tools ... preferences ... spelling). By "dictionary" I meant a "scripting dictionary" with a list of commands that AppleScript can use. Word 5.1 does not have one of those. It has a spelling dictionary, which is a completely differe...

Re: Copy & Paste between Word 5.1 in SheepShaver and OSX app
Word 5.1 has no dictionary. Presumably that means it's not scriptable? Possibly. However, I noticed that SimpleText seems to not have a dictionary either and yet it responds to "activate". Well, I suppose this is a mystery that we will not be able to solve. :???: If I have this line in an...

Re: Copy & Paste between Word 5.1 in SheepShaver and OSX app
Thanks, emendelson, your script does work, and actually does place the Word 5.1 frontmost after it runs (whether or not Word was frontmost before running) on my machine. Word probably gets the focus back after the script runs because it's the only other thing running on your system. My setup has a ...

Re: Copy & Paste between Word 5.1 in SheepShaver and OSX app
You might try this. In the Mac OS AppleScript editor, save this script as an application, and place the application in your System Folder, in the Apple Menu Items folder: tell application "Finder" activate open clipboard close clipboard try set frontmost to false on error end try end tell ...

Excellent! Thank you!
Also, in recent OS X builds (if I remember correctly):
Ctrl-Return toggles between full-screen and windowed mode.
Ctrl-F5 captures and releases the mouse.

Re: System 7 smi invalid checksum
EDIT 2: So why doesn't Basilisk II emulate the MMU? Because it would take immense amounts of time, effort, and knowledge to write the code, and the people who have the ability tend to prefer to do work that they get paid for. When a generous volunteer decides to do it, it will get done. But I would...

Re: SheepShaver for Windows
With the latest SheepShaver build (06-05-2013), when I boot my OS 8.6 system, I get "error type 102." All earlier builds boot this system successfully. It doesn't help to boot with the shift key held down. I get the same result if I turn off the JIT compiler. I have "Ignore illegal me...

Re: Symbols not found error when building from source
The SDL you build with should be built with the same compiler and bit size as Basilisk. Can you paste your build steps? Did you do a "make clean" for both? Thank you! You put your finger on the problem. I did do a "make clean" for both, but it didn't help. The problem was that I...

Symbols not found error when building from source
I think this has been answered already, but I can't find the solution, and will be grateful for any help. Following the how-to-build guide on this site, I successfully built BasiliskII on the command-line in OS X 10.6, and built SheepShaver with Xcode. Now, I've gone back to the original source code...

Re: SheepShaver (for OS X) with a Help menu
I've improved the original upload slightly, and made a build that differs from the standard git code only by adding a menu system. Same link as in my first message. EDIT: I've now figured out how to post the code that makes this possible, but I'm not sure anyone can find it, so here's a link: https:...

Re: "Updating" to 9.2.2 - Sort of
Not missing anything; the only reason you'd want to use it is for the extremely rare situation where 9.0.4 can't run some software but a hacked up combo OS would. Due to the previously mentioned memory manager code update, this is an extremely small set of files. OK, that's good to know. But has an...

This post -

- seems to imply that the 9.2.2 finder causes AppleScript to stop working in SheepShaver. That seems like a very powerful reason not to use it. Or am I missing something?
