Re: QEMU n00b - needs help
Somewhat off-topic, but the page here says that SIMS would run with SheepShaver: https://macintoshgarden.org/games/the-sims Also I did just recently set up Snow Leopard Server in VirtualBox on Catalina, no problem on my side. I have to admit, that I did not try The SIMS with SheepShaver or Snow Leop...

Re: Help me choose the best emulator
mabam has the how-to for setting up an Apple file server, if needed. ;) Do you have an adapter for the AAUI-15 port to twisted pair CAT-5 or so? In that case, I would create disk images with DisKCopy 6 on the 7100/80 of all needed files. Upload the .img files to some free storage service via Classil...

Re: Help me choose the best emulator
Your dad or you do have the choice. Both apps run fine with MiniVMac II, Basilisk II and SheepShaver. If you should need Mac HD floppy support, Basilisk II Build 142 may be worth considering. Build 142 would also allow using the PPC 7100/80 HDD, given you could add a SCSI HBA to the W10 rig. Setting...

I have a long list, some of them include... Let's Get Tanked Stuntcopter glider macninja lawnzapper All of these are hosted as img.sit files at Macintoshgarden. Re: New to Mini vMac
Usually I am creating disk images for the use in MinVMac.
Which games do you miss, especially?
I feel that disk images with the games could be added to the matching pages, if needed.

Re: Emulator Consultant needed
Good point Jorpho, that breakout box. I did connect two PCs with built in COM1 ports via null-modem cable. Mac side: Optiplex 755, Windows 10, Basilisk II B142. PC side: Portégé 7010CT, Windows 98SE. From my few trials with EP-8000 in Basilisk II B142 and SECSIM in Windows 98SE there are two main ob...

Re: What is the best Mac ROM to use?
FPU is the Floating Point Unit, once on a separate chip like the Motorola 68881. The Motorola 680X0 could load off math calculations to a dedicated number cruncher that way. As for the ROM, I never saw an advantage in emulation using different ROMs like Performa or Quadra ROM. Basilisk II does heavy...

Somebody seems to have been running 2.7 with SheepShaver.
Could that help? https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/digital-performer-27
If you can, please upload your ISO to the page above and edit it accordingly.

Re: Aliens vs Predator Gold Crashing at Launch
Is it this game? https://macintoshgarden.org/games/aliens-versus-predator If so, the page says: It works in Mac OS 8-9, Mac OS X up to 10.6 (with Rosetta) and works fine in Classic. That in mind, I would look for an old Intel Core2Duo box with a HD5450 GPU and install Snow Leo on it. Nawcoms mod CD ...

Maybe this is what you are looking for?
The files are here, disk images compressed with Stuffit 3.6.
Maybe you can fill in some details?

Edit: Cat_7 was too fast for me.

Re: Installing Classic Mac implementation of BBC BASIC
Would it be OK to create a page at Macintoshgarden for BBC Basic?
The app runs with SheepShaver, Basilisk II and MiniVMac II.
Looks best with MiniVMac II and System 7.1 methinks.

Re: How to extract data from a physical Mac
Fired up my old T60 with Windows 10, as it still has a COM port at the dock. That way I could talk to another Windows 10 rig via ZTerm from Basilisk II Build 142, the one Cat_7 kindly made available. From SheepShaver, ZTerm could not open a COM port. My guess is that COM ports were depreciated over ...

Re: Trouble running a game

Maybe you forgot to install this one on the new rig? http://www.emaculation.com/basilisk/gtk+-2.10.13-setup.exe Alternatively, you might also run the old version of BII 142 Cat_7 did compile for us, but this one lacks CD-ROM support on Windows 64bit. https://surfdrive.surf.nl/files/index.php/s/yr1NJ...

Re: Copying files to Windows
Thats weird, never had hidden Mac files on the Windows side.
Could it be that certain file types are hidden from user land in the Windows folder settings?
Maybe move over something Windows knows like a .doc, .txt, .jpg file to see what happens.

Craig, wouldn´t it be easier to switch to a known working app on the PC side?
This branch of Putty has ZModem capabilties incorporated.

I did not try LePutty so far, but can give it a go, in case that helps.

Re: Full Screen in videogames with Basilisk II
Games like PoP were designed to run on small Mac CRT monitors. Sadly there is no way to make the game run with a higher resolution. Some games do upscale in Basilisk II when switching to full screen, but some don´t. What you might try, is setting your monitor to a supported VESA mode like 800x600. I...

Re: mount .dsk in OSX
My .dsk disk images may be added to the SheepShaver Volumes GUI to mount. Once mounted, you might move the files onto a HFS+ volume to mount it on your host OS or copy over files via the shared folder (Unix). Ronald posted in some thread that apps are loosing their resource fork when moved over Unix...

If Richard´s original Mac is still working, I would make disk images with everything I want to keep with DiskCopy6 and move those .img files to the Windows 7 machine.
I did just that with my stuff.

Re: Get data and apps, everything, off Mac Classic
There are HFS utils for GNU/Linux, but I had little luck with them. For file transfer of apps over foreign file systems you want to make .sit files of your apps beforehand. As you have a PC with SCSI HBA, Basilisk II Build 142 may be worth a try. BII 142 does handle Mac SCSI drives fine, the biggest...

Re: Relaunching the same app after quitting it causes a cras
I do recall such behaviour - from real Macs and emulated ones. My guess is that some apps do not free the system resources upon quitting as they should, lazy programming may be one reason. At second start there are remains in RAM the app wants to allocate again - dang. There is a small app to flush ...

Re: How to extract data from a physical Mac
File transfer over serial port is working on my side, thanks to the old Bisilisk 142 build, Cat_7 did re-build. As I have some old rigs around, those still came with one or two COM ports. Connected the COM-1 ports with a null-modem cable using HyperTerminal on a Windows 2000 machine as receiver. Sen...

Re: How to extract data from a physical Mac
I always wanted to try a serial connection with Basilisk II out of curiosity. Maybe time to look for a null-modem cable on the attic. I´ll have a look whether Z-Term from Basilisk II does talk to a receiver the next days. Is your serial app coded for 68k? PPC apps will not work with Basilisk II, as ...

Re: How to extract data from a physical Mac
Same here. Made DiskCopy6 images of all my volumes on my iMac Bondi blue or PPC 7100/80av and moved them to a new home. If you want to continue to use a Mac app talking to a serial port, options are few. I´m rather sure FusionPC can talk to serial ports, Basilisk Build 142 should work too, same for ...
