I think someone else already mentioned MiniVMac II. Myst seems to work that way with System 7.1 on my side, could be the .toast has to be converted to an uncompressed .img image to have it mounted with MiniVMac and System 7. DiskCopy 6 does create .img files from mounted volumes including toast, as ...

Re: Classic 9.2.2 / Pinball Big Race USA - QEMU - OS X Catal
Exactly. My guess would be missing GPU support.
No way around that, except with an old Mac booting MacOS9 it seems.
Maybe Classic emulation in Tiger or lower would work too.

Re: Office 98 and 2001 Trouble
Guess we had several threads about MS Office above 4.3 not working with SheepShaver over the years. For both MS Office ´98 and 2001, QemuPPC, MacOS 9.2 is the way to go. If you want sound, you need to run a Screamer build. Cat_7 has some builds ready to try. In this thread is a link to a bootable US...

Re: OS 9.2.2 BackUp ToolKit 3 AutoStart
Strange, FWB-BackUp-ToolKit-3-0.2 is working on my side in Qemu and SheepShaver.
Only that I can´t see a benefit backing up files within an emulator when the whole disk image may be backed up on the host OS in an instant.

I doubt that MS Office 2001 will work anyway, as even 98 does not.
As far as I can tell, QemuPPC, MacOS 9 would be best to run MS Office higher than 4.3.

Re: Max disk size usable in BII
I was playing around with large HFS disk images a while ago. If memory serves, there were no issues reading or writing to a 30GB volume with Basilisk II. (Not saying it was wise using such a big volume with HFS.) I did not try file sharing though. The volume in question is hosted at Macintoshgarden:...

Re: Starfleet Academy - "Unknown Error 21"
I did give the game (from Macintoshgarden) a short try and did not see any error 21 so far. Host was 10.14.6, guest MacOS 8.6. As the mouse is practically unusable for the game in SheepShaver, I would use Qemu (Screamer Build) instead. The mouse looks good in Qemu to me, video is looking better eith...

Re: Software and files not recognised
I´m under the impression that ProTools, like other "music" software, needed dedicated hardware to run. The required sound hardware often were add in cards of Nubus type. SheepShaver is emulating an early PCI Mac with a PPC 604 cpu. Apple dropped Nubus in favour of PCI after the PowerMac 81...

Re: Error when running game: Assertion failed: RenDev
As for the PM, I was suggesting to look for compatible hardware, if playing the HP games is a must. A Mac Mini G4 would spring to mind, or a low end Core2Duo Hackintosh with Snow Leo and Rosetta. SurfaceBook2 looks like the Airbus A380 to me technology wise, where an old Boing 727 would be compatibl...

The .qcow2 image is booting with Cat_7´s Screamer build from April 2019. https://i.ibb.co/68TX4dG/Sreamer-04-2019.png I seem to recall that most of the QemuPPC proceedings are from 2019? Could it be that Limbo simply misses all those updates? That "someone" was me, btw. Not that I would fe...

You may want to read the notes on the page made 1017, where mrdav has originally uploaded the game file. https://macintoshgarden.org/games/harry-potter-and-the-sorcerers-stone User SkyCapt has pointed out his findings confirming that the game does need a OpenGL compatible GPU and a G3 Mac. For MiniVMac it is more convenient to have game files in an .dsk or .img container. I will add such image to the page here: https://macintoshgarden.org/games/bards-tale (3rd DL) Seems like the game runs equally well with Basilisk II and SheepShaver. A disk image container is not really needed for th...

Re: no sound from cd player
I seem to recall that Apple CD Player was very picky with hardware.
Apple branded Sony CD hardware did play fine, third party CD players would not. That was with real Macs, mind you.
With Mac emulators it will be even less probable to play CD audio tracks that way.

Re: Unix folder has disappeared...
As you copied over all your software, the path to the Unix folder most certainly changed.
Did you already adopt that setting to the new location?
If you still want to use Snow Leopard, a virtual machine is nice to have.
I´m using Leopard Server 10.5 occasionally in VMWare.

On Windows I would use IMGBurn, in macOS DiskUtility does create DVD/CD master files of .cdr type.
The .cdr may be renamed to .iso without damage, if need should be.

The MacOS installer volume MUST be made read only, either by your host OS or via the settings GUI. You may install MacOS 7.5.3 to 9.0.4, but note that the early OS versions do need the 4MB Old World ROM.
