Re: Custom fonts on Mac OS 9?
I made the mistake of extracing the SIT on the host, not in SheepShaver. Works perfectly now. Thank you.

Re: Custom fonts on Mac OS 9?
I tried running Font Clerk (from archive.org) in both 9.0.4 in SheepShaver and 7.0.1 and 7.6.1 in BII, and got a -39 error each time. I should know how to avoid, this but I don't.

Re: Custom fonts on Mac OS 9?
The free FontForge app (for macOS, Windows, or Linux) can convert any current format to Mac-specific TrueType. Which host system are you using?

It's an Iranian file-uploading site. There's absolutely no reason for that message in this thread.

Script Debugger 1.0.5 in Basilisk II
I've tried to install Script Debugger 1.0 in System 7.6.1, but always got an error message. I finally found the workaround: Install it in System 7.0.1, run the 1.0.5 updater on the same setup, and then copy the Script Debugger 1.0 folder to the 'Unix' disk, and from there, copy it into System 7.6.1....

A "rootless" Basilisk II app for running old apps
Taking up the work of zydeco and mabam, I've put together a BasiliskII-based app for macOS that can run any of the following old apps in a window, without showing the System 7.6.1 desktop: BBEdit Lite 4.6 AppleWorks 5.0.3 ClarisDraw GraphicConverter 4.1 HyperCard 2.4.1 Word 5.1a WordPerfect 3.5e It ...

Re: What apps (not games) do people actually use in BII/SS?
Actually, this was fairly easy to do. But I've got one problem: when I try to run MacDraw II 1.1 in either 7.5.5 or 7.6.1, I get a message saying there isn't enough memory to load the options or create a new document. I've got 256MB enabled in both systems. Is MacDraw one of those programs that need...

Re: What apps (not games) do people actually use in BII/SS?
Thank you for these. I'm trying to figure out a way to run rootless Basilisk II with different apps, depending on the name that you use for the AppleScript app that will actually launch BII. I think I see a way to do this, but haven't had time to finish it. When it's done, it will certainly run BBEd...

Re: SS will not run in Ventura
Do you have any notion as to why SS and Ventura don't get along running in OpenCore? Have you asked the OpenCore programmers? They're almost certainly the only ones who would know. I'll drop out of this thread now, as I can't say anything useful about OCLP systems and I don't want to waste any more...

Re: SS will not run in Ventura
Once again: something is clearly wrong with your system, as you made clear when you reported other problems with screen savers, etc. The app that you reported about most recently is a different app from the one you tried earlier. The download links are on separate pages, not on the same page. Both o...

Re: SS will not run in Ventura
Something seems to be wrong with your Monterey system also, and possibly whatever was wrong there got carried over into your Ventura setup. That ZIP archive was made with macOS's "compress" command, not with anything that isn't compatible with macOS. Probably a reinstall of both systems wo...

Re: SS will not run in Ventura
Something seems to be wrong with your system. The ZIP archive expands perfectly on two different machines here. Possibly the same thing that's going wrong with expanding the ZIP is also what's going wrong with SheepShaver. You may want to reinstall Ventura on your machine. Meanwhile, try the downloa...

What apps (not games) do people actually use in BII/SS?
For a project I'm working on, for public distribution, I would be grateful to know of "classic" applications (not games) that people actually use. I know there's a small community of WordPerfect users. But what else is in reasonably common use? For example, is anyone using AppleWorks/Clari...

Re: FUSE-HFS now works on Monterey!
There is a kext-less fuse here https://github.com/macos-fuse-t/fuse-t I used that, and compiled fusehfs ( https://github.com/thejoelpatrol/fusehfs ) against fuse-t and I can mount HFS CDs (images and real CDs) on my M1 Mac with macOS 13 Ventura. Are there precompiled binaries that we can install, a...

Latest macOS version with hdiutil that compacts HFS+ images?
In the hope that someone knows the answer (and the selfish hope that I won't have to keep trying old macOS versions until I find one that works): What is the most recent version of macOS with an hdiutil version that can compact sparsebundles containing HFS+ disk images? The images in the apps I dist...

Re: Usb floppy drive on sheepshaver (Windows)
I don't know if I'm wasting your time with an impractical suggestion, but you might try using Winimage to write the image file (assuming that you have one) to your Teac floppy. There are various menu items that may or may not work.

Re: A "rootless" app running a no-desktop BasiliskII
And I've now updated my fork to include SDL2 2.24.2 so that it can produce usable code even if a later version is installed in the /Library/Frameworks folder when you build:

Re: A "rootless" app running a no-desktop BasiliskII
SDL2 2.24.2 works correctly.
2.26.0 and later versions produce a black window.
If someone can figure out what relevant detail changed in 2.26.0, then maybe this can be fixed, but I certainly can't figure it out.

Re: A "rootless" app running a no-desktop BasiliskII
If in doing those experiments you happen to figure out exactly what broke between versions, please let us know :) The chance that I'll be able to figure out what part of the code broke is probably zero. If you have a moment, could you look at the code that's inside the "ifdef video_rootless&qu...
