Re: Basilisk 0.8 derivative CockatriceIII
Lauri Pesonen actually wrote the original Windows port of Basilisk II. To do so, he used the same Basilisk .8 code that the author of Cockatrice III is using right now.

Re: Basilisk 0.8 derivative CockatriceIII
I bet Lauri would find this project interesting. It seems to be what he did twenty-two years ago, but now for more modern systems.

Re: Softmac Emulation bugs
Someone should send him an email and ask. I think Darek has mellowed since the early 2000s. Maybe he'd be happy that people are still interested in his stuff and would release the code. He even sent me a nice message when I commented on one of his recent videos. But maybe he didn't know who I was. :)

Re: Easiest mac performa emulator for Macbook air
Basilisk II can run Mac OS versions 7.x through 8.1. SheepShaver can run Mac OS 7.5.2 through 9.0.4.
They are both about the same, in terms of setup. You can check the guides in the wiki.

Check the requirements of the games. Basilisk II emulates 68K Macintosh computers, while SheepShaver emulates PPC Macintosh computers. Use the emulator that best matches your requirements.

Darling Runtime Environment - macOS software on linux
Here is a report on the Darling Runtime Environment: https://ostechnix.com/run-macos-software-on-linux-using-darling/ It says: "Darling is a translation layer that allows us to run macOS applications on Linux. It emulates a complete Darwin environment, including Mach, dyld, launchd and everythi...

Couple of Mini vMac Updates: Sept. 27, Oct. 4
A couple of updates over on the Mini vMac page: October 4, 2020 - * The latest Development source snapshot fixes a bug where, if the ROM image file that Mini vMac finds is not the desired ROM, but a different valid Macintosh ROM that has been renamed, and the undesired ROM is larger than the desired...

I'll make a suggestion on the Github page, as Cat_7 suggested. Maybe we can get that disabled by default once again.

Re: Stability with JIT Compiler Not Enabled (Windows)
I've always had some random crashes running B2 in Windows. They just happen when running some program or another. I think the emulator went down when I tried to load the "About" screen in iCab, and when I launched "Doom." I haven't been able to bring about a crash since disabling...

You might be interested in MpegDec, which can still be used to play MP3s on 68K Macs:

You can also listen to streams by downloading a PLS file. For example, all of these:

Re: Stability with JIT Compiler Not Enabled (Windows)
I'll write the same in the Basilisk II guide, and continue to randomly test. Since trying the new build, I haven't had any random crashes since disabling the JIT. I wonder if anyone who contributes to the code has the ability to slightly adjust some of the default settings in the GUI. Perhaps that c...

Stability with JIT Compiler Not Enabled (Windows)
Would you say that Basilisk II in Windows is more stable with the JIT Compiler disabled? Or is that just my long-term imagination?

Did you read this?

Is it named "vMac.ROM"?
Can you just drag it onto the emulator?
