Hi!
I've got SheepShaver up and running in MacOS 9.04 on MacOS Mojave.
I mainly installed SheepShaver to play Bad day on the Midway by The Residents.
It runs, but graphical perfomance is terrible. Every time a scene gets switched I get a white frame and after 3 seconds the actual frame that should have been there right away. It also skips certain parts of the game where animations should be, again this area becomes a white square also. At a certain point in time I don't see no frames at all, just a black screen, while the audio and the rest is of the game still runs perfectly.
I've tried messing around with refresh rates, but that doesn't help at all.
Does anyone experienced similar before?
Thanks!
Greetings!
Robert

Perhaps you need an update for the quicktime player?
Version 4.2 is the best version to run in SheepShaver.

Maybe a long shot, but you might try Qemu MacOS 9.2 instead of SheepShaver.
From a short look, the intro animation plays on my side and no white screens appear when moving.
The QTVR scrolls more or less fluently instead.
Sound may be an issue with Qemu, but the Screamer build with Altivec is worth a shot methinks.
I already found Nanosaur working with Qemu some time ago,
so Bad Day performing better than with SheepShaver is no surprise to me.

Re: SheepShaver & Bad day on the Midway
Thanks for the input Cat_7 & 24bit!
I am running a plain MacOS 9.04 installation, with Quicktime 4.1
There are strange things happening with Bad day on the Midway!
I've found out that the game does run 100% OK!
When I start up SheepShaver, I have to run the game once.
Then the game doesn't show the animations, just white squares where the animations should be.
When I restart SheepShaver and then run the game, the animations show up and the game runs 100%.
I would like to know if there is a known cause for this behaviour.
Why don't the animations show when the game is started the first time and only after a restart of Sheepshaver the animations suddenly are there?
Thanks for your time!

Sheepshaver is an imperfect emulator no longer under active development and it is not at all unexpected that it should behave strangely in some cases.roro wrote:I would like to know if there is a known cause for this behaviour.
