Ronald P. Regensburg wrote:Whatever the cause of the issue, it is apparently somehow related to the ~/Library/Preferences/com.emaculation.sheepshaver.plist file. But simply replacing the file is not a general solution. It may have solved the issue for you, but for me it has started the issue.
Try this:

1. Backup your .prefs file and everything else.

2. Download and install AppCleaner:

http://freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/

Make sure that SmartDelete is enabled in the Preferences.

3. Delete SheepShaver (or drag it into the AppCleaner window).

4. Agree to delete all the files in the list displayed by AppCleaner.

(Maybe restart your machine after this.)

5. Restore your prefs file and SheepShaver.

It can't do any harm, and it may work.

I could reproduce the issue by the com.emaculation.sheepshaver.plist file.
And I found a potential bug that has existed since 2005.
Try latest source.

Thanks. That certainly did look promising. It found some files I was unable to find even with invisible files enabled. Trashed all of those but still getting the beachball...

If you're responding to my message suggesting the use of AppCleaner, that was addressed to Ronald's problem. You'll need a build made with kanjitalk755's revised code, and presumably a build will be available here before too long.

Thank you! I'm not a programmer so I know nothing about compiling this. Is there a relatively easy way to do it or should I just wait? I currently have sheepshaver 2.5 for Mac OSX.

1. You look in the wrong places for the .sheepshaver_prefs file. It should be in your Home folder. Open your Home folder and hit command-shift-. (command-shift-dot) to show the hidden files. It should be there among the other "dot" files, files with names that start with ".".

2. I will compile a new build with kanjitalk755's latest source and post it. You can then test it.

Got it. I finally did find it. Thanks! Trashed and back to windowed mode. Would like to try the new build when available.

Here is the new SheepShaver build. It solved the issue for me. Does it solve the issue for you?
You can simply replace the existing application with this one.

https://www.emaculation.com/sheepshaver ... 200726.zip

I did not yet post it as recommended build.

The issue appears solved.

I posted the 26 July build as recommended build: https://www.emaculation.com/forum/viewt ... =20&t=7360

I confirm that this latest build resolves the issue as reported in my initial post. I have tested it on all my systems and in Mojave and Catalina. Works perfectly.

My thanks to everyone who contributed to identifying and resolving this problem.
