SheepShaver and 2021 ?

Post by macandnews »

Bonjour,

Merci

A+++

Hello,

I have been using SelfBudget software for years with SheepShaver (Mac OS 8.6) without problem and since the change of year in 2021 the software is working normally, but I can no longer enter new transactions, because the button to validate remains greyed out after filling in all the fields!
Do you have a solution to fix my problem?
Thank you

Could you tell a link to the software in question, please?
English or German installers would be preferred on my side, but I guess I would get along in French too.

The software no longer exists since 1995.

Sure, I was expecting that. :)
Can you upload the software to Macintoshgarden.org?
Some here or at Macintoshgarden could have a look what going on with 2021.

Other than that, you might create a new desktop file on your 8.6 boot volume.
This file did get corrupted sometimes and did cause random errors.

The file is not corrupted.
If I create a new file with the starting month “January 2020“ it works and if I choose “January 2021“ the button is grayed out and I cannot validate the operation.

The problem therefore comes from the software or from SheepShaver.

If anyone wants to try, I share the software.

Same here, 2021 is in grey only.
Thats for SheepShaver, Basilisk II and MiniVMac_II.
I think its the app itself not accepting 2021, but this should be confirmed with an old Mac.
You might use 1921 instead, though it may look a bit weird, until you got used to it. ;)

Do you mind when I´m uploading the app to Macintoshgarden?
Someone may give it a go with a vintage Mac.

Thanks for looking.
I just signed up on Macintoshgarden and created a topic with a link to the app.
If there is a better place to drop the app, you can do that without a problem.
Thank you

Although SelfBudget displays the date correctly with Mac OS 8.6, I just upgraded to Mac OS 9.0.4.

Now Mac OS 9.0.4 does show 2021 in the dashboard along with my software, but it still doesn't work.

I can still use SelfBudet and enter transactions in 2020, but I cannot enter a new transaction in 2021 because the button to validate remains gray! :(

Yes,

As was suggested on the MG site: your software may not be able to work past 2020.

One thing that might be useful to you: https://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/re ... ?year=2021

Useful tool that lists the years that share the same day/week alignment as 2021. So you can, for example, turn the date back to 1971 and scheduling will work the same. 1921, unfortunately, doesn't line up with 2021 for weekdays.

I don't have the time for it personally, but it should also be possible to go in and modify the code to, say, work from 2000 to 2040 instead of 1980 to 2020.

Thank you all for your help, but as it doesn't work, I'll switch to TCF so as not to risk having a problem again in a while.
