Hello Shanghai fans,
All my (problematic) programs are running so far,
including ShanghaiII, with SheepShaver.
I "downgraded" to SheepShaver2.3, OS7.6
and a 4MB "oldworld" macrom. My host system is WinXP.
The emulation is quite fast and stable.
You may know that the four original 800k ShanhaiII disks
included a compressed 680k sounds file and a 240k music file.
As far as I know, the game could be played in colour with
sound only in 24bit adressing mode and system 6.
That means a MacII in 1992.
Did anyone manage to play ShanghaiII in colour with sound
in an emulation?
Please do let me know!

800k Macintosh floppies can only be read with either an original Macintosh, the registered version of DSK2FDI, or possibly a Catweasel. If you cannot get any of these things, you will have to find a download for Shanghai II from elsewhere.
May I suggest playing the SNES version in emulation instead?

I can confirm that a Catweasel MkIV now has read only access to Macintosh 400K and 800K floppies using the latest drivers and ImageTool hotfix from here:Jorpho wrote:800k Macintosh floppies can only be read with either an original Macintosh, the registered version of DSK2FDI, or possibly a Catweasel.

No machine to run it
Thanks for the messages,
I still have the disks and an old PPC 7100/80.
"ShanghaiII Dragons Eye" is supposed to be included in the system6 hell,
so you might give it a try.
What is missing, is a machine to run the game with all features.
MiniVMac does the job in monochrome with sound.
Basilisk/SheepShaver in colour without sound.
Executor won't run it at all, because it's not 32bit clean.
I am hopefully waiting for MiniVMacII to be completed.
Best wishes!
