Patch for the Grey "Bundled" Disks

Post by afrodeity »

I have a grey powerbook g4 (10.3.7) disk that I have managed to boot with PearPC. Only problem is I get the dreaded: "Bundled software will not install on this machine" message. Is there any way, short of buying a "black" universal OSX DVD, to patch this problem, so that it continues with the installation? Please help, I live in a developing country with $ in short supply.

Hi,

You might want to try to change the CPU type PearPC uses. It can emulate a G4. But the support for G4's is limited and might give you trouble. If you get it installed, you can later change the value back to the default G3 value.

G4: cpu_pvr = 0x000c0000
G3: cpu_pvr = 0x00088302

Best of luck,

You might also try these cpu_pvr values:
##cpu_pvr = 0x000c0209 ##g4 715 - but fast
##cpu_pvr = 0x000c0201 ##g4 744 - sluggish
##cpu_pvr = 0x000c0000 ##g4 744 - sluggish
