Partitioning hd IMAGE - Darwin or not to Darwin!

Post by hBarcellos »

Hello all.
Using Darwin is the only way to partition the HD image ?
I have downloaded "darwin-701.iso" from OpenDarwin but a "Panic" message appeared when I tried to boot it.
I can boot normally with a Panther ISO, but I can't choose a place to install (no partitions).

What can I do ? Which DARWIN to use, and where do get it ?

regards.

If you use just the 3 gb image from the pear site, you can then use OS X to partition and format the image.

In the installer go to disk utility, select the drive and choose erase. The result is a clean hard disk with only one partition, but good for installing OSX (don't install os9 drivers on it.)

Best,

Thanks Cat. I did the disk erase, but OS X installation keeps me saying that I cant select the partition because is not bootable. Should i do something else ?

there is no necesary darwin iso. only mac os X iso and install it.
u can make the hd partition with the mac os X install, in the menu, disks utility.
