Same here.
By default, Windows can not see GNU/Linux (or Mac) partitions.
There are third party apps providing device drivers for non Windows partitions, but I can´t seem to recall their names.
IIRC those apps were pay-ware, so you may prefer reading/writing the Windows side from GNU/Linux anyways.

Interesting; I haven't dual booted in years; I just install the secondary OS in a VM, which makes file access MUCH easier. It also means you can have both running at once and share files via either virtual disk or SAMBA sharing.
