Classic 9.2.2 / Pinball Big Race USA - QEMU - OS X Catalina

Post by Klaus »

Hi together,
everything runs well, also sound.
One problem: when I try to start the Pinball, I get following message: "vertical blank timing failed".
Maybe you have any idea.

My QEMU-Command is as follows:
./qemu-system-ppc -L pc-bios -boot c -M mac99,via=pmu -m 768 -drive file=OS9.2.2D.dmg,format=raw,media=disk -drive file=100GB.dmg,format=raw,media=disk -netdev user,id=network01 -device sungem,netdev=network01 -device usb-mouse -rtc base=localtime \

Thanks and Happy Easter!

Oops,

Looks like the game addresses something Qemu does not implement?

Exactly. My guess would be missing GPU support. ;)
No way around that, except with an old Mac booting MacOS9 it seems.
Maybe Classic emulation in Tiger or lower would work too.

Thanks for the quick answer.
I wouldn't try it under Tiger with Classic (both running by me under QEMU and Catalina), because Tiger is really very, very slow. Starting Classic makes the system even slower.

Hi,

Following a tip from the ati support developer I have good news and bad news.
Good news: Qemu can run your game, but you need the ati-vga enabled build. It is a bit difficult to set up. See our experimental downloads.
Bad news: For now, that build does not support sound.
