from the qemu.bat file, you can get a cool UI as seen below.

Apart from giving you a cool UI, it gives you easier access to do things more quicker. As you can see, I enabled the options to show tabs.

You can also detach tabs, if you want to see stuff at once.

Sadly, there's a problem with the mouse grab, which makes your mouse go out of the window if you move to close to the edges (not touching the edges)
If you think you can handle the mouse grab problem, good luck with the UI!

And you forgot to mention the problem with the double-click speed....
Those mouse problems are exactly the reason why -sdl (not -sql) is in the suggested command line.

While the GTK gui is more sophisticated it is also useless.
