Basilisk II on Big Sur (11.4)

Post by MotorolaForever »

I have been unable to get Basilisk II running on my 2019 Intel MacBook Pro. The app immediately quits when clicking start from the GUI.

I followed the instructions at https://www.emaculation.com/doku.php/ba ... _osx_setup.

My preferences are as follows.

Code: Select all

disk /Users/macuser/Downloads/Basilisk/DiskTools_MacOS8.image
disk /Users/macuser/Downloads/Basilisk/OS753InstallerParts.dsk
disk /Users/macuser/Downloads/Basilisk/basilisk_hd_500.dsk
extfs /Users/macuser/Downloads/Basilisk/export

Is there anything else I can check?

Thank you!

1. You do not need the GUI app to start BasiliskII. "Start" in the GUI saves settings and launches BasiliskII. Once settings are saved in the prefs file, BasiliskII can be launched directly.

2. Better use one of the rom files suggested in the setup manual (and change path in the GUI accordingly). The Performa rom works best for most setups.

3. If BasiliskII still quits on launch, try:
- Copy the application (only the BasiliskII app itself) to a different location (like your desktop)
- Trash the original app
- Move the copy back to where the original was.

Thank you!

It looks like this was a ROM issue.
