Enhancement: specify prefs file from command-line?

Post by emendelson »

I hope kanjitalk755 will consider this suggestion.

For those of us who use multiple configurations with BasiliskII, it would be good to be able to specify the configuration file from the command line. For example, in macOS, we could run a shell script that included a line line like this:

Code: Select all

/BasiliskII.app/Contents/BasiliskII ~/path/to/prefs
There could be equivalent commands for Windows and Linux.

If there is a way to do this now, I don't know what it is, and I hope it might be useful. Of course, the current default prefs file location shouldn't change, but this might be a useful addition.

You should be able to do --config </path/to/file> ?

Most options can also be set directly from the command line in BII, and this will override settings in the config file (I believe only if --cofig isn't called, or is called before the other arguments).

The sound that you hear is me slapping my forehead. Of course that's right. I had simply forgotten about it. Thank you!
