Hi,
Just wanted to know if someone managed to make network connection with BasiliskII on Debian 8 Jessie ?
Installed BasiliskII from the Jessie repos. The slirp method doesn't seems to be working any more , at least for me :/ The eth0 method shows up in the network preferences tab, but it's not working either.
Tested on Debian 7 Wheezy, slirp works fine.

Hi,
Is yours a 64 bit installation? If so, you might have to compile from source, as the slirp source was recently updated to run in 64 bit. Sheepnet module source was also updated wrt to the kernel version under which it runs.

Re: BasiliskII on Debian 8 Jessie
hello,
Should have mentioned the machine model, sorry. it's running on a Powerbook G4 17" 1.67Ghz. So it's a 32bit.
I've installed it on another same machine running Debian 7 Wheezy, slirp works fine on that one.
On both the eth0 network option shows in the pref tab, but i've not been able to make it work.
Sheepnet is the Eth0 driver ? I thought I read here that it was not working any more on recent Debian/Ubuntu versions .

Hi,
Running on BasiliskII on PPC hardware and software distros is not well-tested. It seems you are doing that now
I have no means to build a version from the latest source code for that platform, but perhaps some other forum member does?

Re: BasiliskII on Debian 8 Jessie
Oh well… Testing then
Well , it runs quite good on both Wheezy PPC and Jessie PPC, only network problem with Jessie.
I will see if maybe there is a configuration needed to slirp in Jessie .
here a screenshot of the Wheezy install :

Are you using DHCP in the TCP/IP control panel?
Sometimes DHCP doesn't work, so you could try to enter the numbers manually:
ip 10.0.2.15
subnet 255.255.255.0
router 10.0.2.2
dns 10.0.2.3

Re: BasiliskII on Debian 8 Jessie
Ok, found out what the problem was, Slirp wasn't installed on my Jessie machine Stupid me
I suppose it's because I selected LXDE as WM during the install, On the Wheezy I selected Gnome, witch installs much more things… Even though I use WindowMaker after that.
So installed Slirp , opened a term and type "slirp", and it works :
Note that if you kill slirp (with 5 time 0) , then relaunch it , it can make strange things.
Slirp doesn't seems to get my DNS , but connection still works on BasiliskII :
Other times with no DNS found by slirp, connection will break in BasiliskII and only way to make it work again is reboot the all thing.

Re: BasiliskII on Debian 8 Jessie
That is a nice workaround. But the problem seems to remain that the BasiliskII built-in slirp code doesn't work.
