Installation System 7.5.3 with Mini vMac

Post by Sebiohazard »

Good evening everyone !

I have a problem installing System 7.5.3 with Mini vMac ... I installed System 7.0 without problem by inserting the requested disks one by one.

I wanted to install System 7.5.3 in the same way, but unfortunately the installer asks me for a floppy disk that I don't have (however I have the complete set of floppy disks for System 7.5.3) see photo below:

How to proceed ?

Greetings !

Try this one, 7.5.3 installer on one disk image: https://emaculation.com/basilisk/OS753I ... rParts.zip
(You need to start up from a different disk first.)

Good evening, thanks for your answer !

I solved the problem by booting first with the System 7.0 boot floppy then I inserted my blank HDD file & finally the first disk of the Mac OS 7.5.3 installation.

The System 7.0 boot floppy is requested very frequently & the installation takes more than 20 minutes is long !!! It's normal ?!

Greetings !

That's normal if you're using a single virtual disk drive. If you instead just load all the virtual disks at once, things go MUCH faster.

You can open and mount multiple disk images in Mini vMac.

You can open and mount multiple disk images in Mini vMac, either from the application menu or by dragging the images into the Mini vMac window.

If I recall correctly, the default build of Mini vMac has 6 virtual floppy drives; you can limit that to one or two in the build options, or ramp it right up to 32.
