OS9exec

Post by PeterHolbrook »

This might be explained elsewhere on this forum, but I've been unable to locate it.

Does anyone know how OS9exec (supposedly, an environment to run OS9 applications) work? I downloaded the latest OS X package from SourceForge, and it contains an os9app_univ executable, plus three other binary files, rather unintelligible release notes and that's about it. How can this thing be run so that I can run an OS9 application? Double clicking on os9app_univ produces this output (in Terminal):

Microware's OS-9, unfortunately, is a completely different OS from Apple's Mac OS 9. See this page for the explanation:

I don't quite follow. Are you sure OS9exec is related to this OS-9? I've seen a screen capture of OS9exec running what appears to be an OS9 application on the OS X desktop. It almost looks as if OS9 itself isn't even necessary.
