Running Scarab of Ra on Mini vMac

Post by soupy »

I have installed the System Folder onto a disk and use that when I start up. I have the Games S.dsk file from this site. When I double click Scarab of Ra it says that it is "busy or damaged" and returns me to the finder. Any ideas? I didn't have any trouble installing StuffIt expander inside the emulator or running the application off of the virtual disk.

Thanks!

I am using a full 6.0.8 install with MiniVMac and the game runs fine from the dsk image.
Could it be there are some files missing in your system?
Although System folders may work when copied, its a good idea to have a clean install.

What I did was use the Installer program off of the Startup Disk image to install to a disk image which I now use for the book disk. Is that what you mean or should I do something else? Whenever I try and double click on the system folders in the boot disk it gives me an error.

Sounds reasonable, what you tried so far.
You may try my 6.0.8 image from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?m1he7y9hy026kek
Hope that helps.

That system disk works a lot better. The games included on it work. Scarab of Ra off of the Games-S.dsk (from this site) still does not work. I'm still getting the busy or damaged error. Do I need to do anything to "install" it?

I´m a bit puzzled.
That system disk and Clockwise´s dsk with Scarab work out of the box for me.
After booting, just drag the dsk onto the running MiniVMac screen, thats all.

That's exactly what I do. The dsk shows up ok and the icons display and everything but when I double click on the app it says it is busy or damaged.

One weird thing is that I tried redownloading the Games-S.dsk just in case and was told there was an error in saving the file. Could it be that I'm downloading and incomplete file somehow off of this server?

Thats strange indeed.
The download is working for me. I got a 2097.152 Byte file.
I have the games-s disk stored locally. I could up it to Megaupload if needed.
What kind of compression would be convenient for you?

I'll double check the disk when I get home next week. Maybe I messed itup when I last added games.

Scarab of Ra from the "s" disk we provide still works for me. Must be something different on your end.

You may as well just try downloading and expanding the program yourself:

http://www.semicolon.com/Downloads/Scarab14.sea.hqx

No need to use our disk image for this one, since the game is still (!) available from the developer.

How do I expand it? When I tried putting it on a virtual disk the program I have says it won't accept that file type.
