Mini vMac (Linux) can't create desktop file from disk image

I'm trying to 'mount' a disk image in Mini vMac under GNU/Linux.

I tried following the mkisofs instruction mentioned here (bottom page).
With various combinations of the following files in the Stuff/ directory: file.sit, file.dox, file.rsrc, file.hqx.

However, each time I run Mini vMac with stuff.hfs, it gives me this error message:
The disk "My Stuff" is so full that the desktop file can't be created.

It seems the size of stuff.hfs is always 1210368 bytes, even if just the file.dox text file is in Stuff/

Any ideas on how I can make the files in Stuff/ accessible to Mini vMac?

I'd still like more details, please. Perhaps the mkisofs in your distribution doesn't work as well in the version I tried it on long ago. What version of what distribution are you using?

Or it might be that you are using a different Macintosh System version than I did (and likely using something else in Basilisk). What version was it?

For anyone else trying to import files into Mini vMac in Linux, it is probably easier to use ImportFl. If you want to import multiple files, you can create a tar archive. Stuffit Expander combined with Expander Enhancer (in DropStuff) can deal with tar files.
