The first vMac release for DOS

Post by ClockWise »

Here's something for your DOSBOX: http://leb.net/pub/vmac/DOS/

It's the very first release of vMac for DOS! It dates from April of 1997.

I think I'll give this a spin in DOSBox on my iPad...

I can't figure out what boot disk to use, every one I use gives me a message that it's for a different machine. Including the image on the apple site and the vMac install guide.
And I'll post screenshots if this works out. It seems awful slow

This is an 40MB MFS image (Mac zipped) that I made some time ago for one of my wife´s favorite games of yonder. ThinkAhead+ was the one, if you should ask.
Its untested with VMac/DOSbox however.

Well, the image worked, but I guess I should have believed the readme when it said "mouse and keyboard not implemented".
Guess that's that.

The very first release was posted for historical reasons only, I presume.
Why not try a more recent version: http://ubuntuone.com/6xHL4lV3eAPpSBWloFlllU
IIRC it was working all right with MS-DOS. It comes with a config file, where you can specify your Mac volume(s), sound, RAM etc.

Great! Yes, the link I posted was out of historical interest... not as something that might serve a real purpose. I'm glad that you got the more recent version up and running.

Be sure to try some games:
