How I got Panther to work

Post by jazzman »

So, finally success. Here is a list of stuff I had to do to make panther work

1. Partition the virtual HD with Darwin, just like in the guide at PearPC homepage. The first two times I installed OS X, I didn't use darwin, and it resulted in my hd not being bootable. You will have to repartition during the OS X install though.

2. set prom bootmethod to select: prom_bootmethod = "select"

3. I had no problem installing panther with the isos I made in Alcohol 120%

4. After I had installed the OS, I could boot but it would crash once I got to the first screen. What I did was to comment out the network settings, and remove the verbose startup from macargs:

prom_env_machargs = ""

cheers

hope this will help you on your way towards a mac desktop in windows :D

i forgot one thing:

5. Set redraw_interval_msec to a smaller value than 200. 50 works great for me. Makes OS X seem a lot smoother

Is that using the standard PearPC, or with the JIT compiler?
