crash under Big Sur

Post by hdlbq »

Hi,
I used SheepShaver for a long time, with success.
Recently, I tried to launch it on my new Imac 27" running Big Sur (11.4)
Since my old version of SheepShaver can't launch, I decided to start a fresh one.
I downloaded the folder and the app from here (viewtopic.php?t=7360).
I added my MAC OS ROM file.
Unfortunately, SheepShaver crashes.
I tried to launch it "by hand" using Terminal, and I get the following result:
iMac:Contents hdlbq$ MacOS/SheepShaver
SheepShaver V2.5 by Christian Bauer and Mar"c" Hellwig
Reading ROM file...
WARNING: Cannot open OS8 (No such file or directory)
WARNING: Cannot open Mac OS 8.toast (No such file or directory)
WARNING: Cannot open /dev/disk9 (No such file or directory)

Could you heelp me ?
Thanks

Maybe you migrated the user from your old Mac to the new one and with it the SheepShaver settings in the hidden ~sheepshaver_prefs file in your Home folder. If that is what you did, you can use all files you used before and only replace the SheepShaver application with a new one, provided paths to the files are still the same.

If you want to create a fresh SheepShaver setup, you need to first delete the old settings by deleting the prefs file. You can use the scripts that are included in the SheepShaver folder.
