Strategic Conquest (game)

Post by jpress2020 »

When I import the application file called Strategic Conquest Plus 2.0 (229 kb) to my Mini vMac 3 desktop, it shows up as a 0 kb file in the emulator and doesn't work (says file is busy or missing when I try to open it). What am I doing incorrectly?

- Which is your host system?
- How did you import the application file?
- Did you import only the application file or also all related files?

importfl will only import the data fork, making most old Mac files and all old Mac application files useless.
See: https://www.gryphel.com/c/minivmac/extr ... index.html

If the files are on a disk image, that disk image may be mountable in Mini vMac.
If the files are in a stuffit archive, you should import the archive using importfl and use Stuffit Expander inside the emulator to decompress the archive.

A Stuffit Expander 4.0.1 on a zipped disk image that can be mounted in Mini vMac can be found here:
https://www.gryphel.com/c/sw/archive/st ... index.html

(If the Stuffit archive was created with a later Stuffit version, Stuffit Expander4.0.1 may not be able to expand the archive.)

Thank you. When I open StuffIt Expander, it doesn't give me the option of expanding the Strategic Conquest file. Maybe Strategic Conquest needs a later version of StuffIt Expander? I included links to two screenshots.

You are with the Open dialog of Stuffit Expander in the Stuffit Expander folder. The game's stuffit archive is not there. You will have to navigate to where the archive is.

Best first copy (drag) the archive from ImportFl to your "Untitled" virtual hard drive.

I suppose you run System 6 something. The Expand/Open dialog will not show a desktop. It may not be obvious, but the top box in the dialog is a drop down menu, you can use it to go to the disk where the archive is.
