Internet Explorer 4.5 in Mac OS 9 problems

Post by wavyinterlude »

So I have a SheepShaver emulator set up, and everything works fine, right. However, no matter what page I load, the images never load whatsoever, and I'm viewing pages using the Old Net proxy, so it should work.

Also, if I access the original SheepShaver website without the proxy, it does the same thing. Everything loads except the images, giving me a red X as follows

I have a project for Valentine's day, so if anyone could come up with something, that would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to continue using IE for this, as I'd like to make everything look authentic as possible :)

Not sure what your issue could be. Here in SheepShaver (MacOS 9.0.4, IE 5.1.7, without Old Net proxy) http://sheepshaver.cebix.net/ loads fine, as does an old web page by me http://spidernet.nl/
(This is on a macOS host, but that should not make any difference.)

That's awfully odd. I'm going to try another HDD with these settings and update my results. Might even upgrade to 9.0.4 too 'cause I only got an 9.0 image.

Maybe try installing IE 5.1.7 (the version I use). Download available on Macintosh Garden.

I'll be sure to give it a shot. I installed 9.0.4, tried your page, and the images loaded, but the SheepShaver page did not load images. :/

EDIT: so I installed 5.1.7, and pages started to work without the proxy (I actually tried 5.1.7, downloaded from another site, and they didn't work on the other HD image), however they don't work with the proxy enabled. Which is a shame. Does anyone have an idea for a workaround?

Does it need to be IE?
You could try a more modern browser like Classilla or the older iCab.

Classilla 9.3.3 http://www.floodgap.com/software/classilla/

iCab 3.0.5 for PPC (Mac OS 8.5 - 9.2.2) http://www.icab.de/

Yes, but I've come up with a good solution for my project. I've heard of these and if I feel like using them, I'll give them a go. Thank you sm for your help. <3
